Balanced Warrior and Werewolves

The Balanced Warrior changes now mean Templar werewolves (already nerfed by the cost increases that only really affect non-sorc werewolves) will be losing out on the 6% armor and weapon damage they currently enjoy as a templar werewolf on live. In return they will receive a whole 132 weapon and spell damage at 33k armor. On live they get 360 weapon damage at 6k base weapon damage, and nearly 2k extra armor at 33k resistance. I should note, werewolves are NOT able to proc the new Templar armor buff as those conditions were not changed.

Yet another indirect nerf that will be pushing yet more werewolves to sorc with its overpowered masteries.

For patches meant to exemplify a ‘werewolf rework’, it seems the werewolf bit has been an afterthought in all but the cosmetic and animation department.

*edit: actually, they turned off all of our animations too (recalls, etc.) so I suppose I mean the visual and auditory upgrades

This is a huge nerf to Templar werewolves.

On Live, you get +6% Armor and +6% WD/SD regardless of whether you're using Werewolf form or Templar abilities.

On PTS Week 2, we still got +6% Armor, but now the WD/SD can increase if we increase our Armor:

But now on PTS Week 3, you're punished for not using your Templar skills at all. This is when I'm in Werewolf form:

...and this is when I've done the bare minimum in human form by slotting some unmorphed Templar skill in each slot:

The difference is staggering. We're losing 4% Armor and a ton of WD/SD if we're not actively using Templar skills.

I don't really think many people complain about non sorc werewolf. I think an incredibly slight nerf to werewolf damage would have been perfect and maybe adjust sorc interactions.

As much as I love the new werewolf I don't think it will be decent after these changes. the fun is over. I will probably go back to dk.

It’s DK, sorc, sorc wolf or go home. Wowzers! So much for everyone having the ability to compete with the meta on their own class through werewolf.

As always, an amazing level of context and insight, especially when changes result in a nerf to Templar werewolf indirectly and changes affect PvE ‘despite it being in a good state’. :/

I really love what they did with the new werewolf so I'll just make a sorc werewolf. i think it will be brought down to around where my nb werewolf is currently so that's perfect. it just seems like a horrible way to balance something.

I'm really just tired of werewolf being completely forgotten when things like these are being worked on, things we've relied on for years to attempt to get close to the production of other classes, and then they're effectively taken away without a whisper of a consideration to their effect on us.

You'll be happy to know in some cases it's also a nerf to templars that aren't werewolves either. It's a bad change, but templars that hold block all day and pretend they are PvP gods will keep claiming it isn't, along with the PvE templars that run in a 12 man.

Such a terrible system when there's the possibility of losing power when you're building offensively. And the excuse for people defending the poor change is oh but if you do this... , Yeah, if I do that then it effectively means my old builds that worked before have to be changed or simply aren't available without being nerfed.

How ZOS or anyone can see this as a great change really boggles the mind when the premise of the passive makes no sense at all. But I'm happy for the templars that are getting "buffed" and will enjoy such a terrible passive.

Me? I'm taking the skill line off. Aedric spear sucks anyway, and pure class templar is pretty bad IMO. Jabs is also a useless skill without stacking movement speed where I can just run Dizzy Swing or Bloodthirst instead (and both cancel better anyway).

For a change that was supposed to be a BUFF or at least bring back the power the old passive has, we shouldn't ever be able to find cases where it's a nerf IMO. And yet here we are...

But hey, this is ESO and it's 2026.
