Nah, I put it in the same category as playing your YT videos at max volume on public transport.

Removing some effects from paid cosmetics is unacceptable. Sound is part of the style, and if I hear my weapons, I assume everyone around can hear them too - since it's multiplayer game. If something would be advertised as "only you can hear the sounds of this weapon style", I would not buy it :(

And if an option to turn off visual effects from other player's cosmetics will ever be implemented, it would be big reason to stop buying lot of such cosmetics for me. I love some skill styles, but I don't buy them cause they can already be hidden by the option to reduce ally combat effects :'(
It's not a single player game; I love to see how other players customize their characters, and of course I need other players to see how I customize my characters :) They may use visuals and sounds I personally don't like, but it makes the in-game world feel alive and interesting.

That is a remarkably selfish perspective.

Prioritizing your desire to impose noise on everyone else over the accessibility and well-being of other players is precisely why these issues turn toxic. For many players, especially those with auditory sensitivities, constant high-frequency background noise and spammed audio triggers aren't just "minor inconveniences" — they cause real physical discomfort, fatigue, and headaches, ultimately forcing people to stop playing altogether.

Designing a game with accessibility and user toggles in mind doesn't take away your ability to enjoy what you paid for; it simply prevents your cosmetic preference from ruining someone else's health and gameplay experience. A healthy multiplayer environment is built on mutual respect and options, not on forcing others to endure intrusive audio just so a player can feel noticed.

I just did my crafting dailies in mournhold.

I checked my headset 2 times lol, I thought that sound was... from another source. Yes, please remove this. There was a guy at the wayshrine, heard that miles away. -.-

I was just thinking 'what is that annoying sound I keep hearing' and then I noticed that sound effect plays literally every time someone pulls a weapon with Valiant Rogue style, and if they stand right next to you it's LOUD. We can't get options to disable sound effects and VFX for cosmetics soon enough because this is getting utterly ridiculous. I don't understand the point of giving players so many tools to annoy other people.

Previous Premium Tome had nice little sound when Vanos Dungeon Delve weapons were unsheathed. It was removed very fast after I purchased the Tome :( I still didn't expect such move from designers, so I don't have my records of that sound. You can try to hear it here at 1:07

It resembled a pleasant soft sound of magickal flames appearing, it was really nice!

As for Valiant Rogue weapon style, the whole special effects package (visuals and sound) plus the green markings skin was my reason to buy premium Tome this time.

Glorious Valiant Rogue and (damaged but unbroken by Update 50) Prior Thierric style combo:

In combat when nearby player uses new weapon style - in line with dozens of other random sounds:

How Prior Thierric weapon style was damaged after many years of being awesome:
    https://youtu.be/n35bpKNy738

How it was sounding for a few years (the other player's weapon sounded just as loud):

    https://youtu.be/QSRnZSClcD8

    https://youtu.be/96C8GCRoPSo

Few other special weapon skins are ruined/bugged as well (both weapon styles from "Akatosh vs Alduin crown crates" lost all sound effects before that crate season even left the store, "Whispers of Sithis" weapons lost almost all sound effects 2nd time already and other players can't hear any effects from it anymore) :/

I can't buy a nice cosmetic item nowadays and relax - since it can be changed any time, thus not only wasting my money but removing the fun which such item delivered at the moment of it's release date.

No one near to you wants to be blasted by the sound of your weapons. The game has so much visual and audio bloat and things like the rogue and prior thierric motifs not only make that worse, they can be a hazard if someone spams barswap at someone with epilepsy. I love the prior thierric motif and I just could not use it because of the flash and loud sound. It was annoying to me AND I felt bad for everyone around me every time I barswapped.

It’s one thing to have the personal opinion that a weapon set is too glowy (I don’t like the rogue set for this reason) but it’s another when it’s auditorily and/or visually flashbanging people. ZOS needs to stop releasing motifs like that.

Motifs with no loud sound, like the hum of Lady Thorn, are fine.

Multiplayer game doesn't mean that everyone should to be forced to hear and see all the special effects you use. Some people have a genuine bad reaction to these effects and if they're in the game with you, the devs need to consider their needs as well as yours. You aren't the only paying customer here. Not by a long way.

Why would you want to cause irritation and problems for players you don't know, just because they are within range? For me an MMO is where I share the world with others and I try to be considerate. If someone in my guild had a problem with particular sounds/noises I'd immediately de-activate whatever caused them. I wouldn't insist that they had to hear or see whatever I wanted to wear because I'd paid money for it. That's like having a friend visit your RL home and insisting they listen to music they hate or watch a film they would rather not watch. It isn't a good way to make and sustain friendships.
I can't buy a nice cosmetic item nowadays and relax - since it can be changed any time, thus not only wasting my money but removing the fun which such item delivered at the moment of it's release date.
Well there is a solution to that - allowing players the options to control the amount of visual and sound effects they experience. Then items wouldn't need to be changed because we'd all have the options to adjust settings and be comfortable.

As long as we have an all or nothing attitude to these effects, anything that is obnoxious to others might need to be toned down. Which is why it's sensible to allow players to choose what effects/sounds they experience.

So you enjoy causing migraines, headaches, epilepsy seizures in other players? How utterly selfish and cruel.
