Midyear Mayhem - congratz zos

So only 2 campaigns people want to get into with long queues
only 1 week midyear mayhem so all working people that can only play a bit in the evening will most likely spend more time in queue than in the campaign if they can get in at all

so everything that players warned would happen when the change to midyear mayhem was announced happened

I have a serious question zos - why do you

Never listen to players in advance
Consistently always make the wrong choice - every time - until the backlash that everyone told you about in advance forces you to make changes after the fact
Why do you still not seem to understand your game or your players
Why havent you still not realized that every time players complain about something or recommend something it makes the game better and has done so in the past and makes the players happier and every time you dont the game gets worse

They are so out of touch it's like they don't care at all. Look at the pts notes, where did they consider player feedback?

I rather play killingfloor and only come online for trials anymore.

They definitely needed to NOT add as many campaigns as they've done in the past - every year we had like 4 campaigns that never saw 1 bar of population, and we have vengeance now as well. But they probably could have still added one cyro campaign, maybe a bonus CP IC campaign.

There are no trade bars, no event tickets and no new PvP rewards. So there is probably no need for 5 campaigns.

So people who don't like PvP are for the first time not forced to play. They kept their word about no FOMO-events this time :)

Well, there is currently 3 campaigns - so by simple addition, adding one campaign would be a total of four, not five. :)

Removal of the trade bars was a terrible, misguided decision. You were never "forced" to play the two pvp events a year for the optional rewards.

Except one of the 3 campaigns is well, not a campaign and once again ZoS is trying to force participation in it. Also BR has no keep walls so until they fix that GH is really the only available campaign at this moment.

Yeah, I agree with that and it's where a big part of the issue is coming from. For the MANY pvp players who do not want to participate in vengeance, there is effectively only two campaigns and they're going to have LENGTHY queues during prime time.

I feel like I misunderstood something. I thought the plan was to rework midyear mayhem to be a bit different, which I was excited to see what the new angle on it might be. But the change ended up being (1) no trade bars, (2) no multiple campaigns, (3) no unique style page or other rewards with the event, (4) less time for the event, (5) adding war torte fragments to the boon bags (a cool change, but the only addition as far as I can tell). It's essentially a slightly boosted double currency weekend at this point.

Was this really what the intended rev was? Or were there ideas for bigger changes that had to get back burnered because of the layoffs?

FWIW, I don't mind the no trade bars, but having the Impressario out during a no-trade-bar event is a wonky design choice IMO, even if the only things she has are old. It requires a lot of awareness on the part of players to know (1) what she'll have before you can look at it in game, (2) what those items will cost without readily seeing a list of items and their cost, and (3) banking those trade bars proactively during the prior trade bar event.

If the future of mayhem is no trade bars, then take all prior mayhem rewards and make them available for AP or tel var and break the trade bar connection with mayhem permanently. Don't show any trade bar rewards during a no trade bar event.

Yea I don’t understand why they did this, PvE gets multiple events a year with trade bars and tickets that PvPers are forced to play if they want said rewards, now we don’t get anything from the PvP events. I understand it was frustrating to PvErs when they came in and got rolled by experienced PvPers but now they have vengeance to go do their quests so there’s no excuse for them to remove rewards from the event.

As a non-PvPer, I have to say I liked it when MYM had rewards I wanted like tickets because it forced me out of my comfort zone. I would sneak around doing the objectives and hope and pray that no real player saw what I was doing, and that was a different kind of fun! It helped having extra campaigns that were dominated by certain factions. Now, it’s been turned into a non-event that I can skip, and I miss it.

As PvPers tell PvEers about the PvP events....you aren't forced to do the PvE events if you don't like them.

Just to chime in on this. PvE events alone used to provide enough event tickets (now trade bars) to obtain all of the yearly rewards without ever having to touch PvP. Even the style pages from Whitestrake's Mayhem were tradable and quickly became inexpensive.

By contrast, the PvP events, there were only two offering tickets/trade bars, and now there are none, never provided enough tickets/trade bars on their own to cover the rotating Impresario rewards.

So you're correct that nobody is forced to do PvE events. I skipped New Life, Jester's Festival, and the god awful Undaunted for years. The difference is that PvE players could still earn everything they wanted without participating in PvP. Now, if PvPers want the rotating Impresario/bazaar items, they may have to participate in PvE events.

The two sides of this coin have never been balanced, and your reversal of this doesn't really work.

[snip]. I got started in Blackreach but immediately became about 2 mil behind the top spot to someone who clearly doesn't sleep. I was hoping to try for an emp push during this years short lived campaigns. Guess I'll just put that single remaining trophy into the "never going to get it" pile and just play other games again. Way to suck ZOS.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Same. Also with the free 2000 trader bars this week and twitch drops you could buy a lot of missing stuff.

I bet some of the trader hoarders are having a bad day now that a lot of expensive styles plummet in value. Thanks ZOS! :)

It's official zos cannot stand its PVP customer base. I've watched over the years as they slowly have dismantled and unaligned pvp with the pve side of the game. Which totally goes against the conception of this games beginning existence.

Zos pvp is the roots of this game whether anybody wants to admit it or not. Care less of your opinion.
Dig out and cut off the roots and this tree everyone has grown to love will die

Also increasing the nodes to give out bonus material just another slow sign of PVE-ification of a PVP area. Trust me this is not an incentive to bring more PVP players back to Cyrodiil but it is an PVE encroachment upon the sacred grounds of past and foretold battles.
Maybe even overwhelm or prematurely pack the server load so there is no room for people that actually want to PVP causing them to go elsewhere and not return thus returning the outcome that zos wants

So is there anything worth it in this new battleground weekend whitestrake's mayhem? Because it really only seems like a double AP and telvar weekend. Doesn't seem like there's any new rewards, and the pelinal's boon boxes still give pretty bad loot just like it always has.
