They definitely needed to NOT add as many campaigns as they've done in the past - every year we had like 4 campaigns that never saw 1 bar of population, and we have vengeance now as well. But they probably could have still added one cyro campaign, maybe a bonus CP IC campaign.

Never listen to players in advance
There are no trade bars, no event tickets and no new PvP rewards. So there is probably no need for 5 campaigns.
So people who don't like PvP are for the first time not forced to play. They kept their word about no FOMO-events this time

Well, there is currently 3 campaigns - so by simple addition, adding one campaign would be a total of four, not five.
Removal of the trade bars was a terrible, misguided decision. You were never "forced" to play the two pvp events a year for the optional rewards.

Except one of the 3 campaigns is well, not a campaign and once again ZoS is trying to force participation in it. Also BR has no keep walls so until they fix that GH is really the only available campaign at this moment.

But the change ended up being (1) no trade bars, (2) no multiple campaigns, (3) no unique style page or other rewards with the event, (4) less time for the event, (5) adding war torte fragments to the boon bags (a cool change, but the only addition as far as I can tell). It's essentially a slightly boosted double currency weekend at this point.
Was this really what the intended rev was? Or were there ideas for bigger changes that had to get back burnered because of the layoffs?
FWIW, I don't mind the no trade bars, but having the Impressario out during a no-trade-bar event is a wonky design choice IMO, even if the only things she has are old. It requires a lot of awareness on the part of players to know (1) what she'll have before you can look at it in game, (2) what those items will cost without readily seeing a list of items and their cost, and (3) banking those trade bars proactively during the prior trade bar event.
If the future of mayhem is no trade bars, then take all prior mayhem rewards and make them available for AP or tel var and break the trade bar connection with mayhem permanently. Don't show any trade bar rewards during a no trade bar event.

As PvPers tell PvEers about the PvP events....you aren't forced to do the PvE events if you don't like them.
