When they shut down sotha sil and renamed it ravenwatch that killed a large population dedicated to no-cp. Many including myself went to full time battlegrounds, quit, or went to champion points enabled. Then like 3 years later they bring it back after the no-proc test was over. But at that point nearly everyone had moved on, so it died.

Now we’re kinda seeing the same trend where they’re splitting the player base. Lots of “pvp’ers” were super motivated about no-proc, but it died so fast on NA-PC. People complained about proc’s so much they deleted one community, instead of balancing the on going issues. Meanwhile they kept releasing proc sets and even more unbalanced items. 😭

No proc was entirely pointless when pariah, beekeeper (HP recovery wasn't nerfed at the time), oakensoul and some other mythics, and even more sets that were not widely known to work there simply made it an unbalanced mess. The draw of the no-proc game mode was that it would be more balanced. Yet it wasn't.

If anyone wanted an unbalanced mess, they could just play CP Cyrodiil. At least there you can cover your weakpoints.

And even beyond the sets, classes simply aren't balanced and never have been in the game's history. Though I do have to say I enjoyed One Tamriel's era (Procapocaplyse I) because at least during that time stat builds could compete with procs and there wasn't the insane instances of damage stacking we have on live. Everyone was OP.

And I also enjoyed Scalebreaker because no one was safe from dying, especially when I fired siege.

This current patch? Ha... I'm in total disagreement with the direction.

I bought a half-year premium account just for Seradil. I’m writing this using a translator. I won’t join the “Revenge” guild—I’m not interested in it. You can’t force people into what you like. When you enabled all the guilds, there were zero people in “Revenge.” I went to “Revenge” on purpose this morning—they weren’t even taking farmers; it was completely silent. You can’t treat players who love PvP like this. Now I have to go look for 11-day games that have PvP. It’s just total chaos.

If you want to test the game, invite players to the test server and give them gifts—they'll go. I wouldn't even go there for the gifts.

We'll know more when it becomes an actual permanent server and the PvP guild boycotts to stop that fizzle out, I guess.

Is it really a boycott if I just choose not to participate in something I do not enjoy?

Last time they made vengeance mandatory I quit ESO for 6 months and played Dungeons and Dragons Online instead. Not because of a boycott. Just because that's what I'd rather do. This week I have been rewatching Start Trek TNG.

If I wanted a pvp experience where everyone had the same set of shallow skills and weapon loadouts, I would play call of duty, because they do it better there. Or fortnite/TF2/overwatch or any other mass appeal game.

The Grayhost Cyrodiil ruleset is an experience only available in Elder Scrolls Online. It is in fact ESO's only real unique experience. No other game that I know of has anything like it. Grayhost Cyrodiil is the only reason I come back to ESO since the tepid PVE experience can be duplicated anywhere else. And there are hundreds of house decorator games out there.

What I don't understand is why the dev team doesn't realize what a treasure they have in Grayhost Cyrodiil and lean into it. ZOS should be focusing on the GH experience and doing everything they can to optimize the code, market to the general public, and expand upon it. It really is the only thing ESO does better than anyone else, and the only thing they have that no one else does.

Reminder that Vengeance pop cap is 900. GH is 360.

Reminder that no one has actually been able to ever produce a single piece of video proof supporting this hypothesis. Not one; not a single video that shows anything larger than maybe 50 V 50 in a jammed bridge fight.

I've never been so happy to be waiting in queue to re-join "big boy " Cyrodil in Grey Host. Will this absurd testing ever be over? The GH wait ln line is 7 on PS5 NA on a Monday. Love it.

Numbers from the people that log in everyday, look at the populations and a mono-colored map. it is an undeniable fact that vengeance isn’t popular and can only a obtain similar popularity by removing the campaigns people want to log into AND giving everyone free double AP, and even with all of these stacked in its favor it still fails to come close to the 900 player cap that it is designed to support.

If vengeance is simply meant to be a ‘testing ground’, in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t ‘need’ to be liked but rather be there, perform its purpose, and then move on.

With that being said, I believe it will help their cause by informing via a post at the end of every forced Veng campaign (after however long of a delay) what was officially being tested and what conclusions were drawn from the data at the time (or what the overall goal is, if it a test that needs multiple campaigns to achieve the desired data).

What I don't understand is why the dev team doesn't realize what a treasure they have in Grayhost Cyrodiil and lean into it. Same reason they call this "vengeance". Vengeance for whom? People with a chip on their shoulder over normal pvp. That aint just the handful of players here that enjoy it, it also seems to be the developers now in charge of pvp, who aren't the same ones that originally made it.

In order to appreciate a product you have to actually have a background in something like it. I doubt the ones in charge of greyhost and vengeance even really play competitive games. I would be surprised to find out they did with the level of animosity it feels is aimed at veteran pvpers and level of tone deaf it takes to strip away the main game mode for a test on any platform.

Vengeance was a result of the balance and performance problems existing on Cyrodiil servers. Makes no difference how much you hate it or love; it was going to happen. Too many issues for us to expect them NOT to try something new. And Vengeance I think has been pretty good experience.

For everyone hating on Vengeance, you're certainly entitled to your opinion however I guess we can assume you are against the issues with Cyrodiil. My advice is don't just post saying how much you hate something, advocate for fixing what's wrong in Cyrodiil as well. The ball groups, all the power creep and exploits, the abusive behavior from some players, all of it is wrong and all of it is driving Vengeance. Remember even IF you guys get your wish and Vengeance does go away, that does not mean the problems in Cyrodiil are going to get resolved. It's not enough to just want Vengeance gone you really should voice just as loudly about the other glaring issues that helped ZOS seek answers (to these other major issues) thru the Vengeance servers to start with.

Some of us like Vengeance, some of us don't but over time you will lose practically everyone if there was no alternative to the stupid gimmicks, gotchas and silliness that goes on outside Vengeance servers. I remember many days, Ravenwatch and Blackreach being dead with a ball group or one unkillable emp roaming the map like a hungry animal and no one wants to login. Wiping everyone else on the server. If that's what you want, then. Don't forget to mention things like that when you come at me saying how bad Vengeance is. Don't leave anyone out. Some of them want to be seen, they want credit for being better than the rest of us so let's make sure they credit for all of it.

Vengeance was actually more fun with the last set bonuses available. I just went into Vengeance today to try some builds and was really disappointed to see that seems to have been removed. I guess back to completely ignoring this campaign.
