The skill level of PvP players has dropped considerably.

No you guys ran everyone off with your Rush of Agony builds, ball groups, unkillable emps (that last for days/hours) and meta sorcs, now DK metas etc... I said this would happen a looooong time ago. When the desirable focus of the community shifted from fights to kills, Cyrodiil started dying. The new people just haven't figured it out yet, but they will... some of them are smarter than you think.

Told you this would happen. I hang out in Imperial City only, where its much friendlier to an actual PvP environment and worth my time - not going to die over and over and over again to wet someone else's ego or glorify some bomber or ball group or emp or a whatever's kill count. With grief bombers from two faction following my small group to every single siege. Same people just doing nothing but following the 4 or 5 of us. Two factions, working together to harass a couple casuals.

I'm not going to do it; others I know won't do it and you guys can act out all you want but you're all alone. And when the lights go out in Blackreach you'll be there all alone. That said, I hope some of them do not bring their ways to GH. But either way you guys told some of us we were not welcome on Blackreach ok, now you'll say the same thing about GH, but please please come find me in Imperial City... you are all welcome in Imperial City. Looking forward to seeing you there.

stop with "pvp is not balanced"

when you cant apply basics, dont cry about imbalancing. [snip]

And if you're talking about builds, the only way to get full balance would be something like "vengeance battlegrounds", but i dont know if we really want it.

PC-NA. Maybe it hasn't caught on yet in Europe, in which case I'm jealous because it's completely ruined pvp for me.

I only noticed one. Pulse force, no bow combo, it wasn't enough to be a threat to anyone. Maybe it's lack of CP in BG? onslaught and corrosive with whip remain much more dangerous as they neutralize my 47k armor and 3k HPS.

There’s always been bad players. But you really can’t speculate general trends like this from battlegrounds, they have always had the biggest skill gap in ESO.

Zenimax destroyed this games PvP. Majority of serious PvPers have long since left and I struggle to imagine any new players signing on to ESO are doing so because they're competitive gamers looking for solid PvP.

Even since my return (which I truly did not think would ever happen), I have zero plans of diving back into PvP and am sticking with housing mainly. My Night's Den looking cool for sure and if I want to PvP, well, I'll go play literally any other game to do so.

And the number of n**bs in PvP has suddenly increased.
And that's not a good thing at all.

I've been playing a lot of battlegrounds for a while now (several years?), and I can tell you that the skill level of the players has dropped significantly.

What do I mean by that?
Well, when a player doesn't even bother to use the basic game moves—dodge, block, run—against an opponent who's attacking him, I think that's a major problem.

    The likely reasons:
    • A) the fact that the TOMES (only) require participation in a Battleground. Some people come and don't even bother to enter the arena. So for them it's even worse, but anyway.
    • B ) The fact that ZENIMAX constantly gives players ways to instantly kill other players effortlessly, the famous "press to win" button. Between skills (hello arca's beam), mythics, and proc sets... you basically don't need to learn how to play anymore.
    • C) the new generation of players for whom everything must be easy or else they should give up. (I must be an old fool, I belong to that generation where we learn to play and where victory is earned.)

Alongside this, the number of good players who quit out/AFK of frustration has also increased.
This is a sign that things aren't going well.

I think this is killing the game.
Perhaps something needs to be done?

...and vengeance is going to make PvP skills unnecessary.

Who goes into a PvP environment without the desire to get kills, aka win? This argument has never made any sense to me. Why wouldn't people who want to win go for meta means of winning? It's like being mad people use beam builds in PvE lol.

Well it's an RPG, so there's varying levels of RP. Yes the True PvPers favorite all time sets were Sloads, Sylvarra's, Crimson, DC, VD, and so forth. Anybody dicussing Theme or Mechanics, honestly anybody reading or writing at all, is less of a PvPer than whomsoever is currently just racking up as many Ks as they can with their free time by whatsoever means with no regard for Theme or Mechanical Integrity or anything.

In my experience the Full Loot OW Survival games - you know which 2 I mean - make this division more clear, the By Any Means vs RP crowd.

There's other ways of testing your skills that leave less to random chance, from cards to ping pong to darts and so forth. There's varying levels of interest in the Fantasy RP element.

Then you my friend will be complaining for a Loooooooong while about this with only yourself to blame.

Be part of the solution not the problem and you will see the rewards. If you don't want to do that then enjoy your easy kills until someone else finds you and makes you the prey.

you know I don't enjoy playing with novice players in my team any more than playing against them.

When I see 2 players getting chain killed and the 3rd player from the opposing team going AFK at the spawn point and the 4th one ragequit , tbh I don't find it fun.

That's why I'm writing this thread.

for those who would tell me “if you play with novices in your team it’s because you don’t have good mmr:
    - well, mmr is reset regularly so we restart with everyone at a given time.
    - then, if the game does not find players of your MMR, it takes what players there are available... And sometimes that makes the game completely unbalanced
    - And when I play I'm systematically in the top 5 of the rankings, so I honestly have no MMR problem. trust me

If you want competition, but find yourself constantly lacking a challenge, have you tried handicapping yourself? Forgo food for a round or two or something. Make a challenge mode loadout. Still punish mechanical mistakes, but lower your stat pool.
