Best bet? When you first zone into a dungeon type in chat that you need the quest. It has been my experience that most groups will help you complete the quest. If you are still leveling they will even kill everything in the dungeon to get you as much experience as possible. If someone replies in a way that is a "forget" you, leave the group, wait out the timer and re-queue. There is NO need to subject yourself to such toxicity.

So if the others don't play like you want you abandon them in a 3 team group after queuing potentially forcing them to exit and relist wasting their time...
Yea the world is full of toxicity.

You're joking right? If I get into a dungeon and ask for the quest and the person say [snip], yeah I'm leaving. Now I don't really do pugs and I advise everyone else to do the same. Join guilds that value the same things you do and post dungeon rosters. But yeah, nothing toxic about leaving a dungeon if someone is being rude.

Well if he literally say [snip] i agree but if he simply refuses to wait i disagree.

I also wanted to say, that as another person who resisted guilds, it's worth the time to find one that fits. There are guilds for:
    • Beginners and/or Training
    • Trading
    • Housing
    • RP (many, for werewolves, vampires, or anything else)
    • PvP
    • Hard Core PvE
    • LGBTQIA++
    • Languages (like Spanish language on PS-NA)
    • Based around times - I'm in a Daytime guild on PS-NA that only runs from about 11 am Eastern and around 6 PM Eastern, and I've seen a guild for Third Shift players.
    • Social
    • Older gamers - At mid-50's, I was one of the youngest in the guild.
    • One of my alt accounts is in a guild called Introverts of Tamriel (although I can't remember right now if that's on NA or EU). There's one on PS-NA called Solo Players Club.
    • There's one on PS-NA called Run It (I think) which is specifically to have a place for people who need to farm, or need to fill trials, or run pledges etc.
    • Anything else someone can think of to create a public guild.
Some can be found through the guild finder, of course, lots advertise in zone chat, they recruit here on the forums, or find a Streamer you really like and join their discord, and ask around.

There are also discords for Healer Haven, The Tank Club, and UESP, all of which are active and can be resources to find guilds.

Beginner or training guilds can be great if they have an open guild bank, too. That way, you can get furnishing plans, gear, recipes, exemplary gear, etc that other people don't want, don't want to sell, and are happy to give away. Check the rules, though. Most have a "give back as much worth as you take" and abusing it is really deplorable, and such thieves are remembered across guilds.

Every time I nee to change guilds, I dread it. But rarely has it gone badly. And even now I'll bump into someone I was in a guild with 5 years ago, and we'll end up in a random, and have a great time.

Well yes, but the post you quoted he was talking about people saying something rude in response to asking for the quest. To be fair though, while I do not pug much, the only time I do is on low level characters I'm leveling. I might pop in a random que and quest while waiting, for the random xp. I can count on 1 hand the number of times I haven't been able to do the quest when I've mentioned at the start I needed it.

Quite agree with advice about joining newbies friendly guilds. My beginning experience to pug dungeons runs was horrible, was kicked out or insulted, mostly just left behind by quick runners to die from trash mobs. I was upset and stopped to do dungeons for more then month at all. Then I find out about guilds and joined a few. That was totally life changer! Kind guildies help me a lot and so I stop to fear group content at all. So wish to encourage you to find friendly guild!

I have been having a terrible experience with dungeons in this game. I mean, here's my experience. I have been joining groups to do dungeons, it takes awhile to even get a group, then when I do get a group, there is always one player that just leaves the group and runs to the last boss forcing the "Joining Encounter in Progress" mechanic and I am beamed to the end and it's over. This is the worst I have played on any mmo.
Yeah, that is annoying. I would recommend guilds, friends, or Group Finder where you provide info that you do not want a speedrun.

Seems to me ESO and the community would want/encourage new players.
Oh, there are plenty of us who do.

Just yesterday I had a bad experience that I hopefully turned into a good experience for the new players in our group. (CPs in low hundreds.) Our (fake) tank was treating us like NPCs so we kicked him. Now, I could have just swapped from my healer gear to solo build and just carry the two remaining players. But that would have not been a nice experience for the new players. Instead, I swapped to a tank build with a couple of heals. And then tanked the dungeon, while also providing some heals. This way the new players who queued as DDs got to do the DD stuff.

And that is what I do anyway when I see low CP players. (Or anyone struggling, really. The CP doesn't tell anything else except how long you have played.) Help them where I can, provide instructions, explain mechs, give gear (I have a full sticker book), help with builds.

We are out there. It's not all doom and gloom.

It's sad though that players have to take care of new player experience and pick up the slack of the devs. From what I have seen there could be alot of daily quality of life fixes to make the game more enjoyable.

You recently left WoW which is just the same when it comes to speed running dungeons so why are you surprised?

At least nowadays, you've google AI as one example - to ask questions and get a nice little list of solutions and suggestions to overcome your handicap of being new.

But yes, they are pretty much smashed - and as a returning player to ESO who also left WoW - they feel good mostly.

Lastly, and most importantly, you get teleported to the next boss once it's engaged by another member of the group so don't get too hung up on feeling left behind.

    Welcome to Tamriel!

You are right and Wow sucks for that too. I was hoping for a better experience in ESO, but instead it is just more of the same. Also, I never said I had a "feeling of being left behind" I said, I am new and I want to explore the dungeon not speed through it. There are some players who are not in a rush. Dungeons and Dragons made an entire industry of exploration, not speeding to the end boss and pulling everyone else to it, only to get a timer at the end getting kicked out of the dungeon just because some players want to go back and explore.
So I don't have a problem with speed runners, they are playing the game the way they get enjoyment. The problem no one else can play the way they want to play for enjoyment. Everyone is being forced to play the speed runners way because their is no option to do otherwise.

That is unfortunate that you are seeing that. For a while I would put up a group in the group finder and just say no egos and speed runners need apply that generally does work and you do get people who are maybe wanting to level a character or just take their time and learn. 2 things that may help, you can just join a pvp session in cyrodiil to pickup a reward box that gives 25 transmutes per day. Also Cyrodiil has the weekend golden vendor who sells pieces from random monster sets that allow you to collect over time some of the more useful items. Might not solve all the problems but its worth knowing they are there.

So there are folks out there who find it as frustrating as you do and who want to go and work through a dungeon, do the story, collect the gear and carry on.

This is my experience a lot of the time in non dlc dungeons. A lot of players still working through doc dungeons. I probably still have a few outstanding myself.

Anyway. Zos announced they will be creating dungeon modes to allow for single player so just you and a companion m. Looking forward to that. They will do mos as one of the first to have this mode.

I loath speedrunners with a passion. They don't care about the activity, just the reward. It's isn't how the system is supposed to work. Also fake support roles. To shave a few minutes off their wait time DPS queue as tanks and healers. They could just learn the skill, ot at least half ass it, but no I guess they don't feel they have the time for that either. Their time is important to them, your time doesn't matter. And to be fair for a lot of players in base game dungeons it doesn't matter. There is often an overlap of speedrunners with fakes. It is afterall all about them.

New player can use the support even in base game, and for DLC some dungeons really need at the least a real tank.

So PSNA PSEU, I play a healer and can queue with you if would like. I play late night(after midnight) PDT.

It's always been an issue and still an issue when new dungeons are released. No matter how great a friend group you might join there's always someone who rushes something and most people are not patient enough for all the dialogue and exploration. We all know a story mode is required where you can solo the dungeon in a slightly easier way but maybe not get the drops when you do it.

In this case it was more like I had to pick up the slack an arrogant player left behind. I don't fault ZOS in any way when players don't play well with others.

Ye, unfortunately alot of people are like this. It's almost always the people with high CP who just speedrun the dungeon and literally don't care about anyone else but themselves. Recently came back to the game and almost every dungeon is ruined by these people. So many thanks for this great experience, uninstalled again.
