Buccaneer Bay – a house I’d love to strip for parts!

...And I do mean that in the kindest way possible xD

OP: https://moonpile.tumblr.com/post/813996999467843584/buccaneer-bay-a-house-id-love-to-strip-for-parts

First of all, thank you Devs for listening to PTS feedback and making the entrance-ship accessible!

...

Onto the main point: a lot of assets here I wish were furnishings:

Perhaps in a future Home Goods vendor update, like U50’s? 🙏
Apart from the obvious Redguard structures throughout, the ship itself has a lot of wonderful parts that would be really helpful for building.

Above all, THIN STAIRCASES!

The thin straight, curved, and the tiny straight and decorated stairs. We’re sorely missing small, thin stairs and I know a lot of other players want them. (Ladders too!)

Also, the locking mechanism on the doors is interesting, but I would love to see a UI feature that applies to all houses instead – already discussed here:

ESO Housing Wishlist - Master Post
Lock / unlock interactibles individually

Ideally: 1. Lock all items (as already implemented by Limited Visitor) then,
2. Manually unlock specific items that would be OK for guests to use.

Reason:
In some builds we’d like visitors to use certain doors or other toggle items, without the threat of the build being ruined by players who toggle items forgetfully, or trolls who do this on purpose.

Well, how nice. If I take ESO+ for one month (I cancelled it as promised) I will just barely be able to afford it.

They could have said "we will look into it" at the time, however much it would hurt to actually tell us something, but yes, shocked I am. Never say never, so probably will be my last over-priced purchase here.

They even did a good job with the ship.

Agree on both counts! The ship is fantastic (although it's likely an older existent asset, Idk from where).

And that's the one thing I wish could be a little better – as good as other communication has been recently, I wish there was more from the Housing sector. Don't get me wrong, it's fantastic to see a ton of things actually being DONE and not just words! But it can be frustrating to wait in the dark, clueless.

We need a UI option to unlock usable items individually, not only doors.

For example, a well-known, talented houser who's collaborated with ZOS recently had one of their builds ruined by someone who came in and changed all of the lights.

Usually most of us use Limited Visitor. But there can be some instances where you want visitors to use a particular item. Even if other lights (or other interactibles) are technically placed out-of-reach, their interactivity can still be accessible to visitors who are unfortunately motivated to do things like this.

This is an interesting house, it’s nice to see something different.

However, I find the windowless rooms a disappointment. Why do so many houses not have windows? I understand maybe they can’t be transparent, but there should be something that indicates a window even if you can’t see through it. The architecture is plain and boring without them.

Traditional adobe-style homes (not adobe-inspired like modern homes) don't seem to have a lot of windows, and what do exist are tiny, as a form of climate control in the desert. Stros M'Kai is a desert, though you'd think being a port town would make catching a breeze easier. Fortunately, we did have Redguard windows on the luxury vendor which work really well, despite the stone frame and huge size. I only put them on the inside of a room because I don't feel it'll add much to the outside (and the size difference will be more noticeable). I do have blue shutters that i can put up on empty walls instead, which will also make it look like there are windows there.

Yes, you can do that as a workaround, but this is a large house and it takes up slots to do so. I doubt in a warm, moist climate such as Stros M’Kai would create rooms with no windows at all, it would be stiflingly hot there and miserable. You would want those ocean breezes to cool things down.

Adobe houses typically have windows that are recessed so that they can let light in but not allow the sun to shine inside and heat the room.

This is just a trend I have seen with houses in this game, Potentate’s Retreat has none, I was able to place some Elsweyr style windows there but it has a much smaller structure and I could spare some slots. The houses would be much more desirable to me if they had windows, since I have passed on buying a few because of that very reason.

This was the #1 reason this house was a pass for me. Such an interesting layout, and I could see building a thriving pirate town à la Tortuga, but the windowless rooms deterred me. Especially as you say, in a coastal, warm climate town where sea breezes keep temperatures manageable and even desirable. I am grateful for the Colovian-style windows, but they can only do so much heavy lifting across such a diverse span of cultural building types.

Buccaneer Bay gets two thumbs up!! Really liking the place. HOWEVER, anyway of moving the hidden walls a few meters. If you go due south, there is a small set of islands that you cannot reach due to the hidden walls, could you move the hidden walls to the other side of the islands please. Right now the hidden walls are just before the islands. And I'm not even worried about the slaughter-fish, I can deal with them. js0tdw65mtcy.jpg

The "furnished" version of Buccaneer Bay includes three (two different) Redguard furnishings that until now have only been seen on the PTS. They are not available any other way than buying the furnished house.

    yim5fbqz6i54.png
At some point it would be great to get the rest of those Redguard furnishings on the live game, especially the provisioning station. They've been on the PTS for several cycles now. One would have expected to see them in U50, with the return to the Thieves Guild story and Hew's Bane locations where many can be found in the game. Even if they remain crown-only furnishings, please make them available to player housing sometime this year.

I would love all those "parts" as furnishings! The various stairs, door, trellis, & grate are perfect!

I'd buy the window if it came with transparent glass. Preferably open-air window because ESO glass is very smudged.
