No, people can simply play in blackreach if they want that. Greyhost is as populated as it is because of the faction lock, you sign up for this dynamic.

Does running around with a scroll give you some kind of passive bonus? I don't see anything on the UESP Wiki which indicates that it does, but I often see players of all three alliances running around and fighting while carrying a scroll, instead of running it back to its temple or placing it in a friendly keep, which made me wonder. Is it just an ego thing-- "I'm a PvP god; come try to take this scroll from me" or whatever-- or is there actually some kind of benefit for being a scroll carrier?

Most of the time it comes down to the player/group carrying it is looking for fights and since the scroll shows on the map at all times, and even shows on the locator bar at the top of the screen if close enough, and is a key objective in cyrodiil lots of players will go to it to take it, or take it back, or try to, so lots of fights to be had.

There are a few exceptions though and many of those exceptions are ego driven or just attempts at attention seeking.

Did I get it right?! :|

they walked it sooooo slow it took 4 hrs to get it home on off peek an there were times the player would just stand around an wait to get killed so another team could take it an say they were just role playing a other rage bait stuff an then they get lonely men to justify an support there actions because of there gender

So you literally call ZoS to discipline others who don't play the way you want them to play?
I don't think ZoS should prohibit switching the alliance. I haven't switched yet once, but I may consider it later, just to play together with my friends. This opportunity is a great part of "play the way you want" in its positive sense.
I also don't think ZoS should do anything with players who do anything with a scroll or hammer or whatever, if they do not cheat. Players do something, then they have consequences. That's how the game works. It is really strange to blame one, two or even five players for something that happens with the whole fraction.

As for your guess that many people switched due to one. If so, I found it silly. No offense.
First, there are plenty of things to do in GreyHost besides one scroll. I often join the scroll protection if I need kills or want to help. No? There are keeps, resources, other players, and siege tools to burn :) The universe doesn't turn around one scroll.
Second, for the chat. I usually don't have time to read many letters. I came to Cyro to play. Short tactic info is all I read it for.
If people are so sensitive about slowing the scroll and reading the chat, God save them from having their keep captured. That's a real stress :)

The personal benefit of the scroll successfully delivered is about 7k AP or so.
While you run with it, it is just a kind of taunt that affects (by being visible to) all three fractions in the campaign. People use it for farming or just for fun.
There are no personal or faction benefits of keeping it in the field in terms of in-game buffs or mechanics.

The scroll resets in 1 hour if not placed. This same kinda behaviour of slowly taking scroll is almost an integral part of pvp. So not to agitate everyone else there is an automatic scroll reset. Believe me this is not an unique occassion. Everything in this thread has happened in the past and often more often.

As a side note, it has actually good that DC is not winning every campaign by 10 k points. Somewhat fresh that DC loses a campaign or 2. They have that Ocean time frame taking everything and keeping it all blue with massive overpopulation.

you might want to stay away from sports an other game with that attuite. someone puts holes in all the baseball gloves an your just like i guess that how some people play lol. an there are zero consequences for bad actors in cyro, why should 1 person ruin it for everyone else an zos profit? a bunch of people said they were leaving because of this players actions an ohh look they switched an they get to go back to there alt an play normal.

It is a good way to burn out fast, if you take Cyro as a sport around a scroll.
Good luck telling a dueler, that they have to take a scroll business seriously. Either to a town quester, or a ganker, or an Aleswell-Chalman line zergling :)
I feel your pain when some other players don't share your goal. But it is natural, because there are many goals and many rewards in Cyro.
Even if you play for the campaign score, delaying one scroll is not the main factor to win or lose it. If you lose two keeps while running around the scroll, well, you've got the idea. There is no reason to overestimate the single scroll value. They work in a complex. That's why one person can't ruin the campaign.

If we played a sport game together, my attitude might surprise you :)
But it is not about Cyro.

I clearly think it should be added to the TOS that if players act unsporting in pvp then they should get banned.

    Gee. That's certainly not Subjective.

We sometimes see this in EP, too. A player takes the scroll, then literally takes it back to its home location for the enemy to kill him and take it. There's nothing we can do except what we did: go do something else. This was in Blackreach so it's everywhere. It's in the design of the game that someone can use an alternate account on a different alliance to assist their main account by hijacking scrolls. If it were real life, then they would be assassinated with friendly fire. Perhaps a mechanic can be implemented whereby the scroll carrier will die if they continue to head towards enemy territory for more than a minute, or if they hold the scroll for more than 30 minutes, something like that.

    It is an interesting idea.
Well, I see the way it can be used by trolls. Bringing the yellow scroll to the corner behind the Kings for example. This way, if Kings holds a scroll already, moving a new scroll to Fare or Arrius will take many faithful lives.
Also, it would barely stop organized groups from baiting with scrolls.

Anyway, I would like to see some handicap for Cyro trolls. At least to watch them dying in attempts :)

lol you should log in and see for yourself Xylena, greyhost is very very active right now, 5 pm on the weekend it was already locked out with over 50 queues
Dead trees still reach into the sky.

I stop by every now and then. Always the same few dozen guys either stomping pugs, or getting stomped. Nobody cares about the campaign. One toxic player or group ruins an entire faction's worth of gameplay. And that's if I'm awake late enough to catch the beginning of NA prime, outside that it's dead-dead. The faction toxicity is a direct result of the 20 hours of PvDoor wasteland rendering the AvAvA worthless.

There is at least hope with the two year class rework. Sets and stats need serious changes. I have no idea what their intent with Vengeance is, another "test" a year in like this is pathetic.

Most of the people who participate in greyhost are well aware of this I am pretty sure. The problem isn't that the enemy does this for instance to troll a scroll while farming, or even that the occasional troll comes by and ruins your efforts.

The problem rn with DC is that when someone comes to troll the faction nowadays, be it the scroll, zone, etc, leaving ram on door on purpose, placing camps on the map at max so others cant place one somewhere (sometimes this is alt accounts though), instead of doing what can be done to circumvent the problem or at least not feed the attention of the people doing it, they play into it. All factions have the problem where people wanna do different things and have disagreements, but DC is at its most combative at the moment.

Lots of armchair quarterbacks, and not enough players.

A reminder eso is a live service game that requires players an microtransactions to survive an they didn't add a battle pass because the previous ways are working or enough to keep things going. an there not changing end game because current end game is keeping players around. so you cant have your cake an eat it too. no new old or returning player are goin to put up with this behavior hence the players saying there switching or not engaging with cyro an doin so or just leavening the game. just think about it. trails are meta this no one explains mechs an everyone rage quits 3ed death. BR is a uneven hellscape with macro users an more. the only end game that isn't meta this an rage quit that is cyro an its getting killed by people who just want to see things burn an defended by low iq mid wits. i happen to enjoy this game an would like to see it around for another 10 20 years but outlook not soo good.

That counts as griefing and that is against the TOS. Though we should not "ban" players here as it muddies the water whetever we know it all or even the truth. The reporting system gives a chance to express your view and some action is taken if true. It feels like a slow path to stop something like this. This is something that makes game worse for most. Hope it gets resolved and all are able to enjoy of Cyrodiil.

That's objectively hilarious and I hope it keeps up. The only thing scrolls are good for is attracting fights. The only thing that should matters in a pvp zone is pvp. Factions and faction RP, score chasing, scroll running, etc, all of it...is pointless.
