How is Cross-Play not a priority?

Out of all the things to do, why isn't this being pushed. It makes your player base just feel larger and lets Tamriel feel like genuinely one place. "Like oh I play ESO on Switch 2, oh I play ESO too but I have an Xbox." you know how great it feels to run into friends real life and have different system but still be able to play with each other.

mostly ask this cause me and the girlfriend play on PC, her friend recently got an xbox and found out we also play ESO and we can do absolutely nothing about that.

I look forward to the day when crossplay is implemented. It'd be cool to see more people in the game!

I am sure it will be fun until economy blows completely up and server go down because they can’t handle the player increased or some bugs.

Who said it's not a priority?

In fact, we know of only two things that the team is actively working on right now, and Crossplay is one of them (the other is Overland Difficulty). We have no guarantee that anything else will be added, which includes new zones or new systems or new Classes or anything else.

It's coming. The last update we got was in the Reddit AMA a few weeks ago, and they said as such. But just because something's a priority doesn't mean it'll release in the next two days.

Who says it isn't? I know that ZOS have discussed it publically, but implementing something like this isn't an easy thing.

Indeed, they at least confirmed that crossplay is being worked on. That makes it more of a priority than almost anything else anyone has been asking for, lol. I think unfortunately people have just gotta temper their expectations and realize that this team isn't working with the resources that it had even a couple years ago. Unless they drastically change their release schedule, *nothing* is being added to the game for the next 4+ months. Let that sink in.

And I guess on that note, while I'm not against crossplay, it's not going to save the game - it doesn't actually add any new content, it doesn't update any systems, it doesn't balance anything... at best, combining servers will just delay the decline for a bit. I only hope the work being done on crossplay doesn't take away from another area where they could actually be working to improve the underlying game.

The whole point of moving to a season pass system was that there would be smaller sized content drops but more often. 2025 is the transition year.

Why yes, that would seem to be an accurate summary of what they stated about the seasonal model.

I kinda wish they upgraded consoles first before they did cross play

Like dont get me wrong I have nothing against console players but I think a lot of the issues eso has is cause of ps4 limitations

It'll be quite fun before the inevitable whinefest :
    1. Hey, my guild always had that merchant on psEU, it's not fair that the pc NA one got it, there's more money there, and it's unfaaaaair, whatever shall I doooooo?
    2. I used to have the top score on that trial, now I'm 278th? Curses, woes and complain posts !
    3. I want my lead but that WB is overcrowded ! Bad ZOS, BAD ! I quit, but will stay a few year on the forum, complaining !
    4. And probably many other things I didn't think about ..

Be carefull what you wish for.

Crossplay will come to late anyway. I think the damage is done on some servers and people moved on.

Examples are the european console servers wich are practically really unpopulated outside of CERTAIN events.
I have seen whole endgame guilds vanish in the past 2 years.

Still hope to be wrong with my take thought, but doubt it.

Being a priority isn't the same as being the first thing you do. One of my priorities is buying a house, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to buy anything else until I have one, because it's a long process and I need other stuff too (like food, rent on the place I'm living now etc).

I suspect it's the same with cross-play. It's a priority but it's not like they've got a big "Connect Servers" button they've just never bothered to push until now, they've got to do the groundwork to make it possible and make sure it's actually works.

It's also probably not a process that requires story writers and artists and creature designers and a lot of the other developers, so they can get on with other additions to the game without it affecting cross-play development.

I’d just like to see some sort of communication about how they are implementing it. “It’s in the plans” holds no weight. Historically those plans are written on napkins that mistakenly get eaten alongside the finger food veggie lunches.

Everyone will have their own opinion on this, but from an endgame perspective I feel like crossplay should be the number one priority.

PVP population on PC NA is really, really bad. The worst I've ever seen it by a large margin. Most weeknights, blackreach doesn't even see a bar of population. During weekend primetime it MAYBE gets a couple bars. IC is completely empty. GH is full and has a queue most nights, but that is only because there is no where else to go to find PVP anymore - everyone just gravitates to that one space. Coupled with the fact that we're fairly certain the per-faction cap is in the 50-60 range, that is a very small number of people playing PVP each night.

The trial finder aswell is very quiet most nights, as is the craglorn zone chat. I've noticed in my trials guilds, there are far less runs being posted every month as time passes.

Crossplay would probably help dramatically with the endgame community. I can only imagine though that this feature is still 1-2 years out minimum, and who knows if there will be any endgame players left at all by the time it arrives.

Depends massively on what addons are available on Console - and I mean maintained addons not ripped off ones. Of course you can do PvE end-game without addons, but good luck convincing a HM raid lead to bring your healer without Hodor's ulti-share addon for example.

On PS EU you dont even have Greyhost full anymore.

    Right now 2 / 1 / 1 bars.

Youre still blessed with your queues

So crossplay is a priority. As we have noted, we are actively exploring everything that crossplay would touch. Because all of that is additional dev work. We cannot stress this enough, this is a massive undertaking that requires meticulous investigation to make sure we factor in every aspect of ESO. Additionally we will need to building in time to either build or overhaul systems to make sure it works with crossplay without causing a ton of issues. And for an 11 yr old game that didn't have crossplay in mind when it was being build (since crossplay was not an industry feature yet) we would rather take the time to do this right.

I can assure you, if this was a matter of just flipping some switches to get crossplay online, we would have done that a long time ago. We are just as eager to get crossplay online so that you can play with anyone regardless of platform choice. But the time we are taking for crossplay is needed.

100% this. Too little, too late.

It is being done now out of desperation due to servers drying up.
