Unclear about an aspect of Scribing

Some of the skills like "shield throw" and "Travelling knife" don't make it clear if I have to have a those weapons equipped in order to use the skill. For example, for shield throw, I can buy the skill for 50K has long as I have shield master achievement - but I don't want to spend 50K to find out that I need to have a shield equipped to use it!
can anyone confirm if you need specific weapons equipped to use the skill?
For all the other weapon skills, there is text on screen that says something to the effect of "you need to have the weapon equipped to use the spell" (that's not the exact language).

✭✭✭✭Grimoires add new skills to existing skill lines when scribed. You must meet the requirements to use any abilities for those skill lines, including:- Must be a member of the corresponding guild to use Torchbearer (Fighters Guild) or Ulfsild's Contingency (Mages Guild).
- Must have the correct weapon type equipped to use Weapon skills (including Shield Throw for One Hand and Shield).
- Must have unlocked Assault and Support to use Trample and Banner Bearer, respectively.
- Everyone starts with Soul Magic, so you can use Wield Soul and Soul Burst on any character.
