Ongoing EU Megaserver Issues – Request for Transparency

For quite some time now, players across the region have experienced recurring, login difficulties and infinite loading screens. What’s worse is that these are no longer isolated incidents; they’ve become the norm, occurring at least once a week. This is unacceptable for a live service game that many of us have paid into. It significantly impacts the quality of gameplay and undermine the experience that your community values and supports.

Despite the community consistently reporting these issues, we’ve received little more than a vague acknowledgement with no meaningful updates just a templated forum banner and no clear explanation of the root causes, what’s being done to resolve them, or whether long-term solutions are even in progress.

Yes, the issue is there, it's big and must be fixed. But how will knowing the specifics of the issue help? Let's say you know exactly what's broken and what needs fixing. Let's say you know what has already been done. What now? You need to know it only for the peace of mind? But the game will still be broken no matter how deeply you're into knowing the details. We need the visible results, not the explanation of the problem.

What if the reason for the issues is that they’ve cut down on investment on the EU megaservers?

Since the database maintenance on June 25th, performance has dropped significantly, and errors have increased dramatically. This often starts with increasing wait times for menus (display own inventory or from guild traders) or occurs with long loading screens when changing zones.

The EU servers, especially the "PC-EU" megaserver, seem to be significantly more affected by these performance issues than the corresponding "NA" servers.

Since ZOS does not publish any information about the structure of the "megaservers", we players can only speculate about the reason for the decreased performance and occurring errors (increased database resource consumption, database or network errors, hacker attacks, etc.). Btw, I can't imagine there will suddenly be more players on the servers; there will probably be fewer.

Overall, the current situation is extremely unsatisfactory, and a statement from ZOS (@ZOS_Kevin) would be appreciated.

They would never tell you if that was the case. No gaming company would.

To add anecdotal evidence, login to Playstation EU not possible the moment I type this (server timeout), login to Playstation NA no issue. While on top of the forums it reads "The connection issues for the European megaservers have been resolved at this time. If you continue to experience difficulties at login, please restart your client. Thank you for your patience!"

And yes, I restarted the game etc.

It's not just EU PC, but EU Xbox and EU PlayStation as well. They all go down like dominoes.

      Cannot login at all today.

Everything was fine for me yesterday, it was my first day back and I bought ESO plus.

I regret it so much because I have not been able to play at all today due to difficulty logging in and EXTREME loading/travel times making the game absolutely unplayable.

I have not seen this issue before but I would have liked to see some resolution since it's been 4-5 hours for me now.

the only 2 times the server seems not to go belly up is very early in the morning right after the reset or later in the day after they "fix" the inevitable issues of the day

No worries fellas. Just power through the 20minute loading screen and if by some miracle you do get in game you'll find that summoning companions simply doesn't work, guild traders don't work either because the listed items simply won't load and you can't list any of your own either and forget about trying to travel to another zone or dungeon because that would mean another loading screen or likely a trip to the log-in screen.

      Good times.

Trader Toon: Pfff... not a chance of "trading" today it seems. Was caught in an endless loop of load screens, then cancel screens... finally I gave up on EU servers and went to NA - where my toon loaded in record time of 45 seconds. I wish EU was like that!!

Sorry, but like with POE I am not buying it anymore. Week long sustained, continued DDOS attacks on a game server? What the heck would be the sense of it?
