So far performance on PC NA has been horrible. Just got kicked from Cyro after massive rubberbanding and freezing. Vengeance is an abomination.
Is there any PvE group that would take a level 15 character for endgame Trial or Hard Mode runs? Why impose rules and restrictions on PvP players that don’t apply to PvE? Why undermine the time and effort PvP players invest in crafting their gear, builds, and character progression?
Again, I don’t think that they have to go as far as Vengeance. But should there be an optional one piece item anyone can equip that disables all their gear and gives them viable PvP stats? I say yes. Again builds can still be allowed although there needs to be serious set balancing, but I want to make it easier for people to get into PvP.
I believe in making the barrier to entry as low as possible while keeping the skill ceiling as high as possible. High barriers to entry decrease participation which is a major problem with live Cyrodiil. It gets very few regular new players.PvP is also endgame - you’re up against the smartest, trickiest, and most adaptable opponent out there: another human. To take them on, you’ve got to be ready. Why don’t people demand Trials be open from level 1, 5, or 10? Because they get it — you need gear, skills, knowledge, and practice to tackle them. But for some reason, new players think they should be able to challenge someone who’s sunk 10,000 hours into the game and somehow erase all the time and effort that person put into their character. Why?
Nope I think skill should be rewarded and I always have. Again, I want people to get their feet in the door. In a true skill based environment, if a player is as good as they think they are and they have 10,000 hours in the game, they should have absolutely no problem beating a brand new player even though they are on equal footing.
It’s actually live Cyrodiil that allows newer players to challenge veterans by outbuilding them, it’s not as bad in Vengeance. I remember when One Tamriel first dropped and I saw many good players lose to people they shouldn’t have lost to just because they got procced down by tremorscale viper or velidreth viper. If you didn’t have procs you were at a pretty bad disadvantage even if you were a veteran. Losing to some of those early One Tamriel builds as a veteran was much less of a skill issue than losing to a new player on the same class in Vengeance.
Anyway, I use One Tamriel as an example because that’s when I really started to see the first early glimpses of what live Cyrodiil now is. Now there’s 100 different ways to get a cheap win against a veteran and the issue is much much worse.
If you don’t want new players to be able to challenged more experience and skilled players, then you wouldn’t be supporting live Cyrodiil where build choices matter more than anything and the less skilled player wins all the time.
Please take my apologies but I don’t agree with you. Relying on anecdotal evidence as a general rule doesn’t hold up. Sure, I’ve occasionally come across impressive new players, but those are rare exceptions, as I mentioned. The campaign’s name fits perfectly—it’s a great setup for new players to take vengeance on experienced ones.
I get that a veteran’s experience should carry weight, but you’re overlooking the countless hours spent theory-crafting, testing builds, and burning through millions of gold just to find a slight edge. Are you saying all that effort should be tossed aside just because some new players, who never cared for PvP before, demand it?
Let’s put it another way: imagine a boxer who’s trained for 10 years to compete for a title. Then a rookie shows up with no training or skill. Should we blindfold the veteran and tie one arm behind their back to give the newbie a shot, or should the rookie put in the time to build their skills?

I don't believe those numbers for a second. What I hear and see is the opposite of these numbers. Sometimes surveys can be pretty selectively read or interpreted and this is clearly one of those cases.

Seems like a pretty biased survey to me too. Those numbers are the opposite of what I hear when talking to my PvP guildies.

Did they respond to the survey? Or do they have zos mails go straight to junk so they didn't get the link? It was emailed out to all participants of the previous campaign who have opted in to receiving emails from zos.

I do think the questions in this survey are very... interestingly chosen from a data analytics standpoint. IMO there are too many "I want to select this but I also want to select this and this".
The bottom of this survey though is extremly concerning. Skill/build diversity is one of the most important things in an MMO and keeps players coming back. They should be concerned about these numbers.
Just because you're having fun or enjoy the lag free experience (who doesn't have the last 7 years) doesn't mean you're heading in the right direction for a long term PvP experience.
You know what also performs good - a dead server.

No it wasn't. If your claim were true I would have gotten an invitation to take the survey. I asked in my PvP guild and nobody got an invitation to take the survey.

What concerns me most about this post from ZOS is the fact that none of the data they shared has anything to do with why they say they're doing the "testing". Never once have they said they were doing a vengeance test to see how much "fun" people have. The data they chose to share leads me to believe that vengeance IS the long term plan and these numbers help build the case. Some PvPers (not many) like vengeance but those numbers really represent the PvE community who wants a PvE Cyrodiil. They'll get their wish soon enough it appears.

So I was in the test every day for about 5 hours or more and never got the survey. I actually looked through my mailboxes and all the folders for it. I'm sure it's just a DB issue.. maybe its got an old email or something from 10 years ago stored. But yeah... never got it. Obviously people did...just not me.

I did some checking on this.
On the ESO Account page, on the left is list of choices. Account info, etc. 3rd one down is Marketing Preferences. It has a box to click if you want to "Stay up-to-date on the latest news, enhancements and rewards from Bethesda Softworks." This box must be checked to receive things from Bethesda/Zenimax.
I forgot about this as I have had this feature since 2013 to get my Beta Key way back when. If you want a survey for this Vengeance Test, go to account page check Marketing Preferences.
Hope this helps.

clutch!!! @ZOS_Kevin might be useful to update some of the vengance threads so people are aware of this.
God, you're so wrong... In the current mode, the one who plays better wins. Everyone has equal conditions. In a 1v1 fight, you'll have equal conditions, and the one who fights better will win. How can you think that the one who fights better could have won in the past? What nonsense are you talking about? In the past, the one with the best build won, even if they didn't fight well. Your build, not your skill, determined 80% of your victory. In the current company, it really depends on how well you use your abilities and skills.

Judging by the published survey results they got the "feedback" they were looking for. ....too bad it's not representative of those of us who actually mainly PvP and only PvE to get gears and mats.

Skill ceiling is so low in this camp practically anyone that regularly pvps can play at the highest level. Better class wins 1v1s in vengeance. That or you likely stalemate with the new hots in vengeance.

Most of the respondents, though, were mainly PvE tourists checking it out. Nothing inherently wrong with that but there is a big divide between the PvP main players and those who were just stopping by. I would say that PvE main player votes are meaningful only if they actually intend to stick around if they get a Vengeance-style campaign option. But if they are going to vote and then disappear back to PvE then there is an inherent problem with the numbers.
Exactly this. The people who are not even playing pvp regulary are forming the future direction, while it feels like regular pvp´ers are not even asked.
Do a poll on the start feed of everyone logging in, this is the only way to get a relyable fair poll.
Not if you ask in some niche in a forum wich probably only 1% of the playerbase is using. In my 35 man guild im literally the only one in forum.
