Please give us an option to revert the changes. I hope someone will make an addon to revert this mess.

PS: I've found an addon to fix the problem https://esoui.com/downloads/info4130-Pre101046UI.html

I know you want to use this as an argument against the new UI, because an add-on of this size can't be considered an alternative. That's why you might say, "Shush," to me when I say that the add-on to restore the old UI is no longer 1 GB in size.

However, I must clarify that the latest version from https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info4130-Pre101046UI.html on ESOUI.COM is "only" 31 MB in size when downloaded. Unpacked on your hard drive, it's about 132 MB. Furthermore, it's now available for download via Minion.

The German forum is also reporting on the 1.2 GB GitHub version, spreading misinformation because people don't read everything.

The problem with the addon is, that it's most likely only a very temporary fix. I very much doubt this addon will be maintained and updated for as long a ESO is running. I expect it to end being supported the day ZOS introduces any major UI changes/additions.

The add-on only replaces the UI elements available up to Update 46.

All new UI elements added afterward will be displayed in the new style.

One could really say this about any add-on. 90% of the add-ons I use say out of date, and I run minion regularly to make sure anything that can be up-to-date is. And there are other UI add-ons out there that to my knowledge still work. And since Dack Janiels was kind enough to make this addon, he may be also willing to keep it up-to-date as long as he plays ESO.

My thing with UI's is simple:

Everyone is very different in what they prefer and like. Some people like certain textures, others like base game looks, others like a ton of info, etc.

What SHOULD have been done is they should've simply created a more organized UI section in the settings menu and ADDED a variety of new options including textures, attribute bar placement, a minimap, etc.

Anything that is kinda forced on everyone ends up making at least one group very unhappy and not really affecting the rest. Something that's supposed to be a positive modernization ends up being something heavily disliked. I can't see how this stuff isn't made to be optional. It doesn't make sense. Is it the end of the world? No. But, the implementation is just sloppy for lack of better wording.

Add optional things to the settings and allow your players to customize.

Agreed. For myself one of the most annoying aspects of ESO has always been their chosen typeface (I think its Univers 67) as it feels too modern and clashes with the feel of the game imo. I always loved WOW's UI because the typeface and the embelishments fit the feel of the game. With ESO the UI feels like it would be better used in a sci-fi setting. I like the munge and shadow cloud border effects.

But I am the one who prefers the UI integrate with the game. Like the player map looking like a scroll or folded map with furled or torn edges, crinkle lines and in a monochromatic sepia type color scheme.

The menu should feel like a deeper dive into the characters personality/profile, not just an interface to see the information (not sure I know how to accurately convey this with words).

Side note: I personally don't believe that a UI we don't like can be a reason sufficient to leave a game.

You'll have to believe. If I don't like the color of the car, I don't buy it. So why would I force myself to tolerate UI that I don't like.

Nevermind, that's only part of the problem, the subclass system was actually what ruined my gaming experience. Two weeks I tried to accept changes and couldn’t. It's a different game now and it's not for me.

I came back from a short break and got a bit of a shocker seeing the new UI, but after a bit playing I'm actually quite positive about it. I'm good with the cleaner tighter look (although I'm also good with the original) and I really like the icon telling me if it's part of my collection. Now if only this could also work based on another character (so I can quickly see if my crafter already has a recipe instead of my current character it'll be perfect).

I'm still missing a lot of info which I would consider quite basic. Even a mini-map still needs an addon. And the only decent achievement tracker addon (Wykkyd Achievement Tracker) is broken nowadays since 43 (honestly it held up surprisingly long without updates). If only they would've added features like that natively.

The only thing I really hate is the shadow behind the group section. But since I rarely join groups and now have permanent summons on al my chars (long live subclassing) I'm using the pet health bar addon again and I just went and installed the fork with companion support and a second addon that disables the regular group section. That fits more with the new interface than the real interface (and for the lovers of the old interface, the addon has an option to match Zenimax's style as well which I suspect will match if you use that old-interface addon (without it matches the new bars)).

I mean common, this looks much better. Why we can't have proper pet health bars without addons is beyond me anyways. You get skills to heal them, but no health bar to see if and when they need healing.
    q4t6t4s5v2g6.png

Can I please have the names of these pet and companion addons?

Sorry for the late reply, I'm not online that often. But it's Pet Health. The fork with companion support is mentioned in the comments and can be found on Github. Just install the OG, then download the one from Github and overwrite the OG with those files.

To get rid of the ugly group frame containing the companion, I use ToggleGroupFrame (and Companion Unit Frame). I'm a PvE solo'ist tho, so I'm not sure how workable this is when you use actual groups.

I just want to say a heart-felt thank you again to @Dack_Janiels for creating the UI add-on that largely retains the key points of the original UI I know and love. I actually like the fact that the smoky borders at the top and bottom of loading screens are gone now, and I don’t mind that the initial log-in screen is more modern. The add-on retained the key features of the original UI that were most important to me and I greatly appreciate it!

For people that don’t like the new UI look that are on PC, I have uploaded a addon to GitHub to revert the changes. Due to the size it will not be published to esoui; that is also probably a reason the devs did not have an option to revert in the game since the goal was to trim file sizes. Unzipped folder size is roughly 1.2gigs.

    https://github.com/DakJaniels/Pre101046UI/releases/tag/v2

Installation is the same as you would install any other addon. Unzip file, move the folder
    Pre101046UI

    into the addon directory. So,
    the path would be
    \Elder Scrolls Online\live\AddOns\Pre101046UI

    not
    \Elder Scrolls Online\live\AddOns\Pre101046UI-v2\Pre101046UI

i tried so many times. But it doesnt work. :( Is there any trick? Had someone else trouble with this?

Not sure if this is a bug, or just me... but since this UI update, does anyone else's companion bar show even without a companion summoned? Often my companion is not summoned, yet the healthbar/UI bar for the companion is still showing. Even in Cyrodiil, and in-house, but happens in overland and such too. Is this just me? Or should I make a bug thread for this?

Actually, there have been some minor changes. The boss health bars look flat now instead of more detailed. The font is slightly thinner. It’s not a big deal I guess.
