(Yet another) Request to allow sorting of "Styles" by alphabetical order in the Crafting menus

This topic has been discussed in the past on these Forums, but I bring it up again after doing some crafting today. ZOS, could you please modify the crafting user interface so that there is an option (a tic-box, perhaps) to list the "Styles" (motifs) in alphabetical order?

When creating a new item at a crafting station, the available styles (motifs) seem to be listed first by order of release, then by motif number. Don't know if that's true, it just seems to be that way. When the game first launched back in 2014, I only had to deal with 14 styles/motifs, so I could find any style quickly. Now, there are (what?) 128 styles? My crafter knows more than 100 styles. Today as I was crafting, I spent too much time looking for the style I needed. A system that worked when there were only 14 styles simply does not work well when there are 128 styles. So how about either listing the styles in alphabetical order or at least providing an option (a tic-box) to list them in alphabetical order at the discretion of the crafter.

It would also nice if we could hide motifs, emotes, mementos, or any form of collections per character.

I'd honestly prefer numerical order, since that's also jumbled up. The later motifs are almost numerical on release, but the mid range is completely out of order. Alphabetical order would mean the default style would be Abah's Watch (which has a relatively rare style mat), and then the ones with the common mats (the racial ones) would be all over the place.

But of course the real solution would be to finally just add a search bar.

The reason people ask for alphabetical order is that the writ specifies only the name of the style. If they gave the number of the style, and that showed in the interface, it would be the preferred choice.

Alphabetical is a problem, as style names change with language. Numbers don't.

Good point about style names being different in different languages. So perhaps the best option would be to keep the existing order, but add a name search option?

Most of my crafting is not for writs, but for other players. Most of the time, when I am looking for a style/motif, it is to match the request of the person requesting the crafting. So for me, having the styles ordered by name would be best.

Crafting stations are in need of a search bar simply for finding the right motif style right away AND to not go crazy over scrolling through more than 8000 furnishing plans to find the one we're looking for.

If you choose "Quest Only" the base-game will present only the styles needed to complete the current quest. Not a complete solution, because this doesn't help if you're premaking the items without an add-on.

I do not use Grandmaster crafting stations because of the way all the sets are grouped. If (like my favourite guild house which has all the tables laid out in a grid) the sets could be viewed in alphabetical order it would make precrafting (is there any other way?) tens of writs so much easier and I might even consider buying one myself.

Console have 2 weeks to go until U46 launches and I have hundreds of writs set aside/ clogging up inventory space to level up skill lines. It would make life so much easier for us if sets were easy to find on the GM stations.

The stations have a text search line on the PC (so you can easily select sets). Does the UI on console not have this feature? No way provided to input text with a controller?

[quote="Ishtarknows;c-8321573"I have hundreds of writs set aside/ clogging up inventory space to level up skill lines.[/quote]

On the test server, I leveled up a subclass skill tree from level 1 to level 50 in about 40 minutes without much effort. So, there's really not much need to save Master Writs for skill tree leveling. Of course, Master Writs will certainly level-up a tree in very little time. Based on my experiments on the test server, suggest anyone leveling a subclass skill tree to have a couple of Skill respec scrolls in Inventory, so you can swap morphs during the leveling process. And/or . . . pick up two subclass skill trees before you start leveling using Master Writs.

I typically save my master writs for a Double-XP event and then use a 150% XP scroll on top of that. On PC, update goes live on June 2 and I believe Double-XP event runs until the morning of June 3 (EST), so could get max XP plus skill tree leveling on PC.

I don’t think so. The only times I have used them is for master writs, which of course put arrows next to the category in which the set resides, like Alliance or PVP. If you were just crafting a set for an alt it would not do that.

IMO the addon Votan's Crafting Quick Access offers a good solution, which ZOS could incorporate into the base game.

It doesn't change the order styles are listed, so the basic racial styles are still first, but it turns the menu headers (type, material, style & trait) into buttons that open a drop-down menu, and the style one lists them in alphabetical order by name.

I like that it gives me both options, because when I'm just doing daily writs I want to use the basic styles, so I want to keep them at the top of the list, but if I'm doing something else (which doesn't have a quest to filter things by) its much easier to search an alphabetical list for the one I want.

That only works for Craftable Sets on PC (and I assume for consoles as well), not Style Materials.

I dno why the crafting menu isn't like the style menu. I should be able to walk into a crafting area on the map. Click on the bench and see what it looks like before crafting.

It would also be nice if there was a set maker. Walk up to a bench, select level, 5 body pieces, traits, upgrades. Also add in if I have glyphs in my inventory or bank they shown up so it's also done there and then. As a perk for eso+ they could even have a check box to send it to you bank automatically.
This recent update has made me sad. Sad for the game. Sad for the community. Sad to pay whatever it is now. I want the previous eso back.

Ah, so there is. After years of having to look up a wiki online to find where various crafting sets are located in the world, I have a good idea what category they should be in so I haven’t had a need for a search so far.
