Permanent Combat Mode: The Ultimate PvP Immersion Experience

Greetings fellow adventurers, dungeon delvers, and brave souls of Cyrodiil,

I’m writing today on behalf of the PvP community, the noble few who have chosen the thrill of battle over the safety of dungeons and the comfort of crafting stations. We are the ones who eat siege fire for breakfast and bleed AP for dinner.

But alas, we are plagued. Not by enemy zergs. Not by nightblade gankers (well, okay, them too). But by a mighty and persistent foe: the “Stuck in Combat” bug — a cruel mistress that refuses to let go.

While our dear PvE brethren enjoy their pristine instances, where the boss dies, loot drops, and the combat flag politely excuses itself — we PvPers are out here engaging in what can only be described as a perpetual war simulation. Imagine finishing a battle, no enemies in sight, standing in a quiet field... and yet, you remain in combat. Forever. You cannot mount. You cannot repair. You cannot swap gear. You are now a combat-themed furniture item.

This isn’t just a bug. This is immersive design, clearly. It teaches us the true emotional trauma of war. Post-battle stress is real. Your body may stop fighting, but your soul remains aggroed.

We’ve tried everything: rolling, dodging, emotes, jumping into lava, praying to Vivec. But combat status persists. Only death (or a /reloadui exorcism) can free us.

Meanwhile, our PvE cousins get to wrap up boss fights with group hugs, clean loot, and an exit portal that might as well play relaxing bard music. Must be nice.

So, dear ZOS, I propose we embrace this feature. Let’s lean in. Make it official:

creating as an official debuff so both PvPers and PvErs can enjoy this feature.

New title: “Forever In Combat”

Achievement: “Still Fighting Nothing”

Costume: Just a floating combat cross over your head

New emote: /sighandwalkslowly

Or, alternatively, maybe consider... fixing it? ❤️

With love, frustration, and a permanently red screen edge,
— A PvPer who hasn’t been out of combat since 2023

The Stuck in Combat bug was fixed with the first Vengeance test, so maybe ZOS will find a way to bring the fix to regular Cyrodiil soon. Both Vengeance Cyrodiil and regular Cyrodiil would benefit from not having that bug.

It wasn't really "fixed" in Vengeance. There weren't just any dots.

    Alright, here's a solution:

Make the negative effects you apply disappear off your enemies when you travel 'x' meters away from them. That way when you disengage from the fight, you'll no longer be dealing damage to them with DoTs and then can be considered out of combat.
