Create separate Subclassed Skill lines instead of nerfing the current ones

Instead of nerfing the current skill lines, such as is being done to the Sorcerer's Daedric Summoning skills, nerf the skill lines that will be used to subclass. Make a separate version for subclasses so that the original class skill lines will remain as they are now, allowing players to continue to play pure classes without any penalty for doing so.

Sadly @Silverbride at some point I would assume (this being a business to make profit) that they have a budget. I am also assuming a smaller budget based on the content. Seems to me it would cost more resources to create a new class than to recycle skill lines from other classes into "new content".

Due to this, if true as I am guessing, then they have no desire to do as you suggested. I mean, your suggestion and solution is a pretty obvious one (not slandering you, I am glad you brought it up) and so one would have to consider that this idea was already floated and shot down.

I don't know how it would cost more to nerf skills that are being subclassed than to nerf the current skill lines.

I think the current way Subclassing works is fine as it is.

If they are nerfing the skill lines anyway to work with subclassing just use the nerfed skills for subclassing and leave the originals intact.

I agree, this would have been the better option.

Just as companions have altered versions of the player skills, making the subclassing versions of skill lines separate could have been simpler to balance. Having to balance nerf/buff existing skill lines will only lead to disruption of players present builds.

I'm fully committed to subclassing when it releases but I still think that separating the subclassing versions of skill lines would have been the better and less disruptive option.

Creating new skills should be unnecesary. They should have simply started witha blanket 25% effectiveness reduction for skills not from your base class. Then tweak that effectiveness reduction through the testing process.

Agreed!!! Not everyone wants to subclass and they shouldn’t be punished, left behind, or kicked out of the group for doing so!

This ironically can go against the motto “play how you want” if players are forced to subclass just to keep up with the group.

    That is a great idea!
