Would you use Class Change Tokens if they were added after Subclassing?

Subclassing and Class Change Tokens each have limitations that make the other useful.

For instance, Subclassing requires you to keep one skill line from your base Class. Your Class Mastery and Class Sets are tied to your base Class, including the curation of Class Sets. The visual motifs of Class Sets are tied to your base Class. The Infinite Archive leaderboard uses your base Class, and your base Class is used for PvP daily quests that require you to defeat a certain number of enemies of a particular Class.

Class Change Tokens would allow you to change your base Class, affecting all of the above. However, on their own, Class Change Tokens won't allow you to mix and match skill lines across Classes. There's a reason we would want both Subclassing and Class Change Tokens. Considering we eventually got Alliance Change Tokens, which impact other fundamental systems in the game across PvE and PvP, there's no reason to think Class Change Tokens are impossible to implement alongside Subclassing.

So, if we could have both, which ones would you use?

No. I have alts of each of the classes though so it's not like I'd be missing out on anything.

If subclassing didnt exist at all, I would think for my alt, but I invested so much into her identity as a Dk (in outfits, skin, builds), that would be very hard for me to change. With subclassing, tho, I may change one or two lines for pure gameplay reasons. My main is a plar and will continue to be, my only real worry is to be left behind in content due to being a pure class. Again, I might change one or two lines, but I dont want to lose plar identity as a "good" being, so not use daedric stuff.

Im also struggling to decide which gear to maintain. I deconed coral a while back because both plar and dk does not go well with it, but if I get rid of dk earthen heart line resource return coral will be viable again. Im having a hard time keeping stuff (not a eso+)

Finally, all my builds may be pointless also, will need to get all changed.

This update is giving me too much overthinking for a game, that I may end up taking a break due to burnout.

Prior to this announcement, my plan was to start exactly one more alt if ZOS ever adds a 21st character slot, so I could have one of each for each faction (I'm missing an EP Arcanist.) The thought of deleting characters and leveling new ones because their classes have been gutted, after doing that 20 times already, just makes me feel exhausted.

So yes, my opinion has shifted from "I support class change tokens in principle, but probably would never use them personally" to "I probably need this."

i would love both though and i am already planning on using Subclassing.

I've never had any interest in class change tokens, and I have a rapidly diminishing interest in subclassing. It remains to be seen as to whether I pursue the latter on a few of my characters, but I'll probably try it on a new character and may then leave it there. Much depends on its effect on my remaining characters in terms of any nerfs to their present abilities. However, "No and Maybe" wasn't an option in the poll.

Yes, I would use Class Change Tokens, and I would use Subclassing
I created 2 characters per class back when Magicka vs Stamina builds was more of a thing, just because I wanted to be able to play anything I could have eventually wanted.
Now that one single character can potentially play any class' skill line I have no reason for all those characters I discovered I don't enjoy playing as they are. I WOULD play them if I could make them all clones of my main, which I love to use.
So now I'm digging for class change tokens, hoping they're not too expensive... Just because I don't want to delete all my leveled/geared characters but I'd like to use them more.

No, I would NOT use Class Change Tokens, and I would NOT use Subclassing
    Regarding class change:
I would never change class of my toons, because for me the class is one of the base criteria defining their personalities. I arrange their names, appearances and everything according to their class. So, in my case, a different class means a different toon.
On the other hand, I dream of a token boosting us straight from 0 to 50/160. I would then create alts, what I don't do as is now.

    Regarding subclass:
I will not touch it. I chill in this game only, so I very rarely fight, close to never. Therefore, whatever changes related to skill have no big interest for me. For example, I never started scribing.

I would not use a class change token on an existing character because they are what they are, even if l swap out one or even two of their class skill lines. But I would use one on a brand new character created for the express purpose of Subclassing if I found that a different base class worked better for my concept than the one I first chose due to class sets or class mastery scripts.

I've never been interested in class change. I'd be fine with other people having the option but I wouldn't use it.

I did delete two characters to remake them as classes which didn't exist when I first made them, but even if class change was an option I'd want to do it that way so I could play through their whole story with the right class. Admittedly it helped that both were still low level because the original classes didn't really work for what I wanted so I didn't play them much.

I'm not planning to do anything major with subclasses either, but I do plan to use them, but I want to keep the existing class as the core of the character, not try to pretend they're something entirely different.

I am guessing there is some sort of technical limitation or they would have monetized this already sooner. I wouldn't be opposed to this being in game, I mean we can already switch factions, races, and gender.

For PvP my build is kinda a generalist and I wouldn't use subclassing. But for PvE as a Nightblade main I'm probably going to try that Arcanist . Unfortunately I won't have the benefit of the ease-of-use Arcanist class mastery banner... Hmm. But I don't want to swap an entire class base on my main character. ugh. Well shouldn't matter if I just stick moreso to PvP.

If class change tokens happened, I can't see much of a reason to use subclassing personally. I have only one character and do not care for microing. I just want to experience different classes with the same character.

Yes, I would use Class Change Tokens, and I would use Subclassing
I think they've stated several times now that Class Change isn't something they're able to do, because of reasons involving coding.

That said, for the sake of this discussion/Poll, yes - I'd absolutely like the chance to change my Base Class from time to time, perhaps even more so now that Subclassing is coming.

While I'm more than a little skeptical about just how Subclassing is truly going to impact the game, if they're in for a penny it's in for a pound and we should either have classless freeform or total control via Class Change tokens so that we can control all three lines, as we prefer.

I'd largely prefer that Classes continued to matter, and Subclassing didn't happen, but that ship has sailed. So, if we're allowed to swap two of the Skill Lines we should be allowed to swap all of them imo, and I include the Base Class in that so yes and yes to the Poll.

No, I would NOT use Class Change Tokens, but I would use Subclassing
The reason class change was rejected by ZOS is because the class is buried deep in the game's coding and can't realistically be altered. It's reasonable to assume therefore that this means the base skill line can't be changed as part of subclassing because it is intricately attached to the class, so ZOS have gone as far as they can in allowing two of the skill lines to be switched to a different class while retaining a base skill line as part of the original unchanged class.

It doesn’t matter because ZoS told us things like alliance change wasn’t possible for years and then it was suddenly possible and they were selling it to players at a premium price. ZoS always says something isn’t possible until they need a good will win and then they sell it to us.

I can't see how they can swap 2 class skills lines around but not 3. It seems like literally the same mechanism.

At any rate I might use it to swap class on a character with all the skill points so I don't have to farm them all over again just to try a different class.

Maybe that's why they refuse to do it.
