Why don't all gap closers get treated like dragon leap?

Why does dragon leap hold the target in place by ambush doesn't?
This recent update has made me sad. Sad for the game. Sad for the community. Sad to pay whatever it is now. I want the previous eso back.

They used to. It was removed because it is a horrible, clunky, rule breaking mechanic. It should be removed from Leap as well.

Why are there so many different versions of "gap closer" in this game? Shouldn't there be like, just one module of computer code for gap closing mechanics, and then a different visual skin for each of them? Stuns too.

Pretty sure its just the case of a bad game engine. Its fairly easy to do in UE5.....kinda sad how quickly you can remake ESO with 0 prior experience.

There are quite literally youtube tutorials on how to do it.

You can try, only been a decade now of people complaining. maybe next decade.

Would you want to be permanently rooted in place by people spamming gap closers at you?

I think the reason is that dragon leap is the single coolest skill in the game and they had to make it work right, at the expense of the target(s)... Full stop.

    Yeah that's exactly why

They are, go look into it. Even I setup the eso locomotion/movement system within a month of downloading UE5 with no prior experience. Even AAA companies are making the swap so they can make it easier to employ people.

Remember the gaming industry is still beginning. I would expect it to follow a similar path to the 3D cad modeling industry like solidworks or inventor. Eventually there will probably be 1-3 big game engines that everyone probably uses as an industry standard.

It's an ult, so I don't mind it having a little extra to it. If it was just a slottable gap closer then it's a different conversation.

Its not a little bit extra, it basically guarantees a kill on a player in combat. It is one of the most terrifying skills because no matter how well you play, you will be impacted by it.

    - We have gap closers that work
    - we have aoe's that work
    - we have stuns that work

Really zos just needs to gut the skill and rewrite it properly. Its a prime example of spaghetti code.

The rest of the game has been slowly homogenised, yet gap closers are left behind.

Nothing is stopping them making ambush the same animation as templar leap with a shadow skin or crit rush with a shadow skin.

Changing the damage to a aoe around the target instead of on the ground so it doesnt miss. VD never misses.

You can try, only been a decade now of people complaining. maybe next decade.

To be fair, the difficulty isn't creating some basic motions. The difficulty is scaling a system up to handle potentially tens of thousands of people distributed across multiple machines and making it feel mostly seamless even when the client and server are thousands of miles apart.

If Epic Games is smart, in less than a decade they'll have a full fledged AI chatbot that you can talk to via voice that just designs and codes the entire game for you interactively. It could even generate all the AI art for you. Maybe then ZOS will move to UE.
But yeah ZOS...Cloak is the problem.

I've been hearing that for three years now. I can still barely get a chatbot to write a small function correctly if it's anything more complicated than a basic CompSci 101 exercise that's been posted on internet tutorials about ten-thousand times. Getting it to do anything remotely original or not well-defined or anything outside the scope of a single isolated function is pretty much impossible and I don't see much velocity in improving that currently.

There are absolutely some activities that it helps with but it's more about removing monotonous boring repetitive tasks - you know, the kind of things robots were created for!
