Sounds like you have started a new character, if so that is where all characters start now.

If you have re-installed your eso, and on the eu server, there is a bug that even if you select eu server the first time you load in it puts you on na server, so try swapping to na and back again (at least this issue exists on playstation, don't know about other servers)

Will try that, I am on Xbox and it is my old character that is/has loaded in.

If its your correct old character it could be that you were previously somewhere that you cannot now access if you had eso+, for example a dlc zone that you haven't bought. If you bought ESO+ you would still have to travel back to that location, it wouldn't automatically move you there

If you had ESO+ before and you were in a zone you only had access to as part of the subscription your character will have been moved when you first logged into them. Now they've been moved renewing your subscription won't move them back to where they were before, but it would allow you to manually move them back to that zone.
