Make Them Show Nameplates?

Hi everyone, please see attached picture of a shroom beetle in vvardenfell.

Is there any add on pc to make these little critters show up with a nameplate? I find them difficult to spot and planning on mass killing them suckers

I’ve checked all the settings in nameplate section and you can manage to highlight just about any Npc/player/creature but not these?

Do rabbits and squirrels pop up with nameplates? Shroom beetles are a similar creature.

I think these types of creatures are all under the same umbrella, and for some reason I can’t get any of them to stand out for me, there must be an add on to better highlight them hopefully

They come under the group called ‘ passive creatures ‘ which essentially is a creature that can be killed in one hit

Yeah, then they just don't have a nameplate. I've heard them referred to as 'critters' too.

I see nameplates on all of those passive critters.... It might be an addon, but I have so many I couldn't really say.

Awesome, I knew there was one, been scrolling through the add ons for ages can’t seem to find one that provides this, if you do find it let me know !

@Hyperdeathstalker - tomorrow I'll disable all my addons and see if the names are gone on the critters. If so, then I'll re-enable them a couple at a time, see if I can figure out which one does it.

@Hyperdeathstalker You need to turn Neutral Npcs, in the nameplates submenu, to show "Always" or "Targeted/Injured".

seems to be, I got mudcrabs to show up, but I can't find any of the shroom beetles, and pony guar and the jellies/baby netches don't show up, and I am not sure I can (the ones that I think are protected by the setting to not hit innocent characters)

Found One! and no, it doesn't show a name plate, will have to play with some settings now that I have to one use as a test subject.

I tried a couple of different things and couldn't get it to show up for me, so it could still be an addon

Yeah mudcrabs work but these passive creatures don’t show I can never spot those blasted shroom beetles when I’m farming nodes and I want to not miss those critters when they appear

Mudcrabs and "friendly" NPCs are passive and won't attack you initially, but if they get aggroed against you somehow-- such as being attacked by you, witnessing you commit a crime, etc.-- then they'll attack you. So they aren't categorized the same as shroom beetles and other "one shot and they're dead" critters.

the only way I found to highlight them, and it isn't a good work around, is if your reticule is near them and you press tab, it will give them a white glow. But it doesn't work if you aren't nearly already looking at them, so not a good workaround.

Well, I disabled all addons, and the shroom beetles etc are still being highlighted (forgot to get a screenie, sorry) with the red health bar with number and percent resources showing.

Sorry, can't really help much more.

Just as a question, when you say highlighted, do you mean that the name shows up when you hover over them in the middle of the screen, or that they will always have a name hovering just above the creature itself?

Yeah if you enable all nameplates every creature has like a healthbar or names above there head, I use it when for npc to pickpocket and blade of woe as it highlights them and easier to spot

Mudcrabs are different from the passive creatures, as you can see from the image below they only get a bar if you have the centre aimed at them whereas regular creatures have a health bar or name directly above their head

Just equip a lightning staff and walk around holding heavy attack; anything targetable will get zapped.

Editing to add another option. The silver shards skill from fighters guild. Fire it at one and the shards will fly out at everyone else in range too. Great for when these things cluster.

First thing I set on new alts is nameplates settings and I go down the list setting them all to ALWAYS.
