Will there be a reveal trailer for 2025?

Pretty much the title. Would be great if we could get some staff input. Usually we release a reveal trailer that shows off the new chapter around January. With the recent changes. Will we still receive a reveal trailer to hype upcoming content this year?

As for comments let's maybe stick to why we should or why we shouldn't. Or other thoughts/ideas for showcasing content with the new release model. Thanks!

As 2025 will be a transition year for new content, we are going to have new zone-based content launch in 2025 - but you'll have to wait until April to hear the specifics about how it is different. Stay tuned
so I doubt it. they'll probably do a jan stream for the q1 dlc/pts, then wait until after that releases in March to drop a trailer

I've heard some speculation it might be Winterhold and/or the Pale, but it's anyone's guess at this point.

According to the studio director's letter, we'll have to wait until April for the announcement. In the meantime there will be some update in March that is supposed to become available on the PTS in January, which we should be getting an announcement about early next year.

Yeah. I read that bit. It just seems to me that it would be beneficial to at least tease the direction that we are going in. I feel like if people are going to have to wait until April it's going to cause further confusion and distress within the community. I don't really think the announcement stands well on its own. It reads more like an apology than an announcement. There is a lot of doom posting. I think it might be good for morale to at least show case something. Waiting that long might be a mistake in my opinion.

Doesn't have to be anything crazy. But I think a short teaser would help before then. Sooner rather than later. They might be ripping the band aid a little too quickly on people’s expectations by waiting that long. A teaser might help correct some of the negativity. Maybe even create some hype. Who knows. But my thoughts anyways.

I am guessing no. They might have one in April maybe. Depends on what the “seasons” even are in terms of content too.

I am not holding my breath.

What are they going to reveal, all of the stuff they aren't going to do this year? So the reveal opens with a new zone and then points out that zone may or may not be released as one zone or even at all depending on their bite-sized schedule. Then it pans to a couple new companions with the tag-line "coming someday when we feel like it." It could finish off with a 4 minute clip of a person struggling with a pack of skeevers while they try and loot some cloth showing that the skeevers have been buffed to have similar health to dragons and take roughly forever to kill which evidently is what some people think would make good gameplay. The final fade to black scene could say "Elder Scrolls Online: who wants chapters now?"

This is still the funniest thing I have read about this game in months.

I'm not even sure if I care that we get one now. I just want someone to make this instead lol.

Lmao I swear I saw someone in rivenspire already struggle with unbuffed skeevers the other day. Let’s all get ready for a flood of zone messages stating: “need help kill these turkey like chickens over here so I can cross the damn bridge and get to my quest marker” 🤣

The new year letter contained some good ideas but the fear we have especially after what happened in 2024 is that all this will translate in less content.

Increasing overworld difficulty and finally making the story progress is a good direction. Content was getting repetitive with the same number of elements reskinned in all zones every year...

This game is not cheap for many reasons and new content is needed to justify the crown store and eso+.

Maybe Zos will start do a stream before every new season like Diablo 4 devs do where they talk about the new content.

It would for sure be a good way to advertise Eso

My prediction is that it will be in one of the areas I circled in red. And while I am disappointed to know that I will have to wait longer to find out where, I am excited they are putting more effort into it, and even more excited to know they are breaking from the mold in the process.

    Nice. More player interaction.

This map may also show why they are moving from chapters, or at least restructuring and experimenting with content delivery - there isn't a lot of Tamriel left if the big zone format continues.

Not suggesting that is the only reason. Many other reasons have been suggested wherever people share their opinion of the game. But this one is definitely a valid one, however many other reasons there may be from hopeful and doomsday prognostications. It's inevitable that over time more new story lines will, fully or in signifcant part, need to be in already accessible parts of the map.

Might be nice to see some of that empty space near Stros M'Kai, Galen & Y'ffelon, and Betnikh just below Alik'r Desert, since it would be easy to blend new content those old zones in addition to the new zone. Make that peninsula and those already accessible islands the focus of a chapter level story, with the main area being the city of Hegathe:

"Hegathe (also called Old Hegathe)[1] is one of the eight major cities in the province of Hammerfell, found in the fertile grasslands on the tropical western shore landings of the Abecean Sea. Hegathe was once the capital of Hammerfell, ever since the Ra Gada landed on its shores in 1E 808 until it was moved to the north, in the Kingdom of Sentinel. It is known for its austere ramparts that harken back to antiquity, and is considered an equal to Wayrest in terms of splendor. The name originally referred to the wastelands that was later designated as Hammerfell, deriving from the Aldmeri word for "Deathland". Despite the meaning of the name, the entire peninsula that the city itself is found upon is a lush subtropical rainforest biome, reaching as far north as Abibon-Gora and as far east as Khefrem."

That, or the neighboring area on the isthmus that connects Hew's Bane to the rest of Hammerfell. That would feature the city of Gilane and the new storyline could center there but also run through Hew's Bane and possibly Stros M'kai. Gilane has some lore during the time period relevant to ESO, such as having refused a shipload of Kothringi refugees fleeing Black Marsh. But like the peninsula Hegathe sits on, its wide open for lore development during the period of the Interregnum.

my understanding is that we wont be getting any new chapters or land masses anymore.

They said there would be no new "Chapters", not no new zones. For example, here are zones that weren't Chapters:
    • Orsinium
    • Gold Coast
    • Hew's Bane
    • Clockwork City
    • Murkmire
    • Southern Elsweyr
    • The Reach
    • Fargrave/The Deadlands
    • Galen

While not as big as Chapters (except Orsinium), some of these are fan favorites, and have most of the stories that aren't based on saving the world. (I didn't count Craglorn, feels like basegame to me.)

Ever notice how the Chapters all have the same amount of world bosses, delves, public dungeons, a trial, and roughly the same amount of area/point-of-interest quests? A Chapter referred to some standard quantity of content and was originally sold for money in June instead of an ESO+ benefit.

Moving to Seasons means it can be released any time of year, and while we don't know for sure, I'm assuming the "Season" is like the yearly themes we used to have, just not limited to one year. Since they said Seasons would replace Chapters, and weren't introduced as some new "battlepass" type of thing.

That’s what I thought I read too, but at the time I thought why will they be announcing it in March if it’s already going to be on PTS in January and already picked apart and discussed by players?

Considering 2025 was called a transition year for content, I am guessing that the content schedule for Q1 will be the same as in previous years: we will get two new Dungeons in March, and they'll be on the PTS for I believe 6 weeks prior to the launch. We'll have to wait until the announcement in April before we learn more about the upcoming Season.

If they continued with one chapter per year, there would still be space for how many years on that map? 12, 13, 14? And it doesn't even include islands they could add, Daedric realms, places like Pyandonea,... I don't see a huge space problem there.
