For me, it's a tie between Azandar's story and Zerith-var's story. I love how Azandar's questline revolves around the choices we make in life and how we treat others, while Zerith-var's story is about forgiveness and redemption. Both of those stories stuck out to me because of the character development that our Companions go through.

I voted Bastian because "he's got seniority" but actually he and Sharp are currently tied. I'm on console so can't use the new ones yet.

Difficult for me to answer. In general: Ember (for her cute cat-with-zoomies personality) and Zerith-var (for his lore rich background, stunningly good voice actor and emotional questline) are both my favorite at the top.

    I could tell you who's I don't like xD
Tanlorin (okayish, but not my type nor story)
Isobel Veloise (understandable story, but boring human regular fantasy knight story)
Bastian Hallix (don't like him and his personality in general, and so his story)
Mirri Elendis (Dunmer - I don't care generally)

Azandar al-Cybiades and Sharp-as-Night I will do after Zerith and can't comment yet.

If the vote is still up after I have finished the last companions, I will come back and vote :)

    Zerith-var
I'll vote after completing Zerith, I'm on console.

At the moment my favourite questline is probably Azandar, even thou I don't like much Apocrypha and the quests were quite long, going through Public Dungeons.
Ember follows; then Bastian, but both of these felt like they could tell more.
Isobel comes next - she is my favourite companion but I hoped for better from her storyline. It was fun to play, but I was expecting something more related to knights when instead we only took part in the tournament at the start.
Mirri's quest felt "poor" to me and while I like Sharp's personality, he's questline wasn't up my alley.
I've read enough about Tanlorin's quests to understand I wouldn't enjoy them.
    I have hopes for Zerith!

EDIT: Zerith not only has the best story line among companions, he's also the best character + story in whole ESO, in my eyes. So good!

Not voting because I don't have enough information.

So far, Sharp-as-Night, but I'm about halfway through Zerith's story, and it's a possible contender to knock Sharp off his pedestal. I haven't done Tanlorin yet and am trying to remain unspoiled, so I have no idea how I feel about their quest

    Isobel Veloise
Isobel's, although Azandar's is close second. But since I dislike obviously moralistic "becoming a better person" lessons, and the "different self from a parallel dimension" thing has become an awful media trope within the last few years, that's a bit of a minus (other than that it was nicely written and I found it interesting and entertaining, too, and Azandar is my favorite companion so far). I didn't find Mirri's and Bastian's quests bad either, but since they were shorter and limited to a few locations, they don't stand a chance against the later ones, of course.

    Sharp-as-Night
Haven't tried the new companions but I really enjoyed Sharp's story. I feel like his was easily the most emotionally impactful out of all of them, as much as any story is capable of being in this game. It also involves some investigation stuff, which I enjoy, even if in practice it isn't anything more than "click all the things until you click the right things". And his history and personality are relatively interesting and mysterious, so that's nice.

    Zerith-var
Zerith-var, Sharp-as-Night and Azandar have fascinating quests! I found all the others pretty boring and forgettable - like, I literally forgot most of what happens with Mirri, Bastian and Isobel, and I only remember a bit of Ember's quests. Tanlorin is fresh in mind but their quests are meh and I will forget them in due time too.

Oh this is a good post. I'll rate my favorites based mostly on quest/lore as well

Bastian and Sharp are tied for first. I like them both because I felt they had strong stories. Bastian and Sharp both had compelling stories that me feel for them. Sharp was the most compelling overall for me but Bastian's punch is still the single most satisfying companion moment for me.

Next is Isobel. Her tournament was fun and interesting. I liked seeing her become a knight. It felt cool to see a big moment where our companion took center stage for a change. I'd actually swap her and Azandar in terms of traveling with me but as a storyline, hers was better.

Mirri. Hers is a bit more generic but it was well executed and I enjoyed it. I also love how snarky she is without feeling out of place.

Azandar - as a travel companion and usefulness, I actually like him more than Isobel or Mirri. But his quest was not as strong as the others. I still quite enjoyed it though. And I love the way he talks haha. It's pretentious sure, but in a fun way.

Ember- I rate her last in all categories. Her story felt rushed. She's fun to travel with in small amounts but if I travel with her too long she starts to get irritating. And I personally find her smaller rapport losses to be the most irritating of the batch. It's not like pickpocketing is something I have completed control over. It's RNG. But she'll get annoyed if I have a bounty anyway. She's the thief companion, I want to bring her stealing! But Azandar is more fun to bring stealing.

I can't rate Tanlorin and Zerith because I haven't played them yet and therefore cannot give a fair opinion on them.

I've done all of them except Zerith-var and enjoyed Isobel's questline the most. My preference is always classic medieval fantasy and hers hit that spot.

    Zerith-var
I like Zerith-var's story since it expands greatly on Khajiit racial lore and gives us more information about their past.

I think Mirri and Bastian suffer from having one less quest than the newer companions. I dislike Bastian because he was a Breton in all but race. I woulda preferred if they used him to explore Nibenese culture instead of his noble house being tied to High Rock.

Poor Bastian ! I did like his story, mostly for the political / societal side of it, but like so many other quests in that department, it started intriguing and promising and fell rather short. Still, it was interesting and I would like to see his story, or rather the story of his family ( and more particularly his sister ) to be continued !

    Zerith-var
I've not recrutied Tanlorin yet, so they are not accounted for in my vote.

I like Zerith-var and Bastian's the most. I went with Zerith because it was quite consistently written, gave a lot of nice lore and look into khajiit culture, and also showed much of Zerith as a character.

This is why I also like Bastian's, sadly he of course got less quests and dialogue than the newer ones. It could be better by getting a fourth quest, maybe have some reaction related to Emeric. Like if Bastian's father was such a big deal, why did they not add anything related to that.

Sharp, Azandar's and Mirri's I think are fine. Not as good/less memorable as the other two, but fine. Like Sharp's to me would've been better if it actually focused on him, the victim, instead of his perpetrator. It's also a bit, well, generic. Slave argonian to an evil Telvanni/dunmer? A story told many times.

Ember's is a bit meh to me. Might be related to how different she behaves in the quests compared to her idle banter and rapport likes and dislikes.

Isobel's I don't like. There's barely any focus on Isobel to learn about her and her character, but what bothers me the most and why I can't like her quests is because of the terrible travelling. There's so much travelling back and forth over far distances, and then they are like "all in a day's work". It's not the first quest where ZOS treats Tamriel's size and travel badly, Legacy of Bretons had a lot of it, and I dislike all of them.
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

I cannot vote still too many to do BUT as far as general interactions go it always makes me smile when I'm sneaking at a safebox and Ember strikes up her magical hands/spell thingy.......

"Hey how about you shine a light on me doing sneaky stuff??" :D
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
