New motifs management

The September showcase has arrived. And I am very surprised, unpleasantly, by the absence of West Weald Legion and Lucent Sentinel styles.

I thought that with the Fallen Leaves of the West Weald event we would eventually get these motifs. But rereading the v10.1.1 Patch Note mentioning the event, I see that there is no mention of the two motifs at all.

Do you forget to make them available? The waiting time is way too long.

Most motifs show a few months after we see the achievements appear. Those were just added with this patch, so it'll be a bit before they start dropping. Based on what we've had historically, I'd expect them to show in October and November's showcases.

The two dungeon ones are actually dropping. They seem to have been stealth-added - normally those should have been expected in July and August, but it seems they forgot to put those up in the store and so they just turned on the drops with the update.

You know, I see one thing that annoys me: out of 5 new styles of the theme of the year, we only have one available.

For the Remembrance motif, I have a thought for the Bosmer enjoyers who have been waiting since March to have a new Bosmer armor... Which they still don't have.

I also think of the roleplayers who wanted to surf on the events of Gold Road... By using the assorted equipment (Remembrance, West Weald Legion). It's a failure.

It's been since High Isle I think. I don't understand why the craft style of the regional faction/militia of the expansion is no longer available at the launch of the said expansion (this year West Weald Legion). It's all the more frustrating when you see information announcing it droppable from the end of September, but nothing ultimately goes in this direction in view of the September showcase.

It's not like the assets were already integrated into the game since the launch of Gold Road. Even Scions of Ithelia for others.

The management of the release of new motifs is disastrous.

EDIT : Well it seems that motifs 124 and 125 were quietly released with U43. I haven't seen any communication about this. But I'm still annoyed about motifs 127 and 128. Especially 127: because before High Isle, the style of the main faction/militia of the region release day-1 with the expansion as a dailies reward... Which is no longer the case.

I feel like this is the seventeenth time I've said this this year, but if there's one thing you can count on ZOS for, it's doubling down on a bad decision.

This thing of introducing content and then adding the rewards for the content months down the road when the content is stale was always a cynical manipulation tactic, players immediately saw through it and called it out, and us calling it out only seemed to result in them further dragging out how long it takes for motifs to be added. It's gross.

Of course, the elimination of half of the content releases in any given year only increases their need to cynically draw out our engagement in stale, tired dailies. Like they think we don't notice them pushing us back into old content at the time we and they both know they should be giving us new content. Again, gross.

Why haven't the motifs you can buy for writs changed? It's still glass and ebony.

The motifs which can be bought for writs never change. They're always glass and ebony.

OP is talking about new West Wealds motifs which are supposed to be released at some (very late) point months after release of the actual chapter. Both motifs are already listed among the lore books in the crafting books section of your lore library, but they don't actually drop in the game and neither have they appeared in the crown store yet.

Awwww I'd hoped the writs ones changed every new zone story, sometime in the years updates. That's a poop.

This delay of rewards is made on purpose to make players go back to an otherwise empty zone. I think it is half cynical half attempt of catering for late buyers.

Attention: slight spoiler ahead!

That Recollection style is not available from start is ok from the story point of view (I cannot tell without too much spoiler) but West Weald Legion should be available from the start.

They should use something else to incite people to revisit dlc dungeons. I think blueprints as for the dailies is a good way to do it and they could do something similar for dungeon rewards but give the zone styles as rewards from the beginning.

I had actually assumed that the main regional faction/militia crafting style would be available at launch. Along with the dailies and in the shop in parallel.

Like
2018 : Summerset - Divine Prosecution > available at launch as Collector style
2019 : Elsweyr - Anequina > available at launch in daily quests
2020 : Greymoor/Western Skyrim - Ancestral Nord > available at launch in Antiquity
2021 : Blackwood - Ivory Brigade > available at launch in daily quests

But since 2022, it was no longer the case except for Dead Keeper in 2023.
For Systres Guardian, we had to wait until end of October. It's not normal.

I will say that it was... a choice... to make the Shardborn style be the one available from the start and have the West Weald Legion be the few-months-late one. I'd definitely have preferred it to be the other way around.

Doubly so since the Shardborn is dropping from the delve/WB dailies (?) while the West Weald one will drop from Mirrormoor stuff (?!?).
...I feel like someone didn't think that one through logically at all.

There's also another mysterious motif that was on PTS as well: Hircine Bloodhunter.

We haven't heard anything about that one, but on PTS it was in the same coffer as the three Crown Store Only motifs, so it looks like something that's not going to drop in game. It also doesn't have an achievement like the three Crown motifs, but unlike them it odes have an Eidetic Memory entry.
(and yes, the weapons in that style have a glow natively)

Yes, West Weald Legion would have made more sense as a reward for dailies at launch. Why would West Weald Legion members give daedric style pages as a reward to mercenaries? From an RP perspective, it's ridiculous.

And indeed, why would a daedra-related activity give Legion style pages?

As for motif 129, I don't know when it will be released.

It honestly just makes the last few releases feel unfinished for a time. Story content is great and all, but it’s the motifs that I stick around for. I feel like they’re incentivizing getting content on sale at a later date.

Let's say West Weald Legion and Lucent Citadel are available as drops during Fallen Leaves... It would be a waste of money for ZOS if they don't release these motifs in the shop at the same time.

Hm. Surprise, I guess.

Checks out, since the Trial motif usually lands around September, while we get one of the Chapter motifs on release and then the other in October. Usually. Definitely seems odd that they forgot to put it in the showcase, but at least that's a step above the "we just forgot to release them in the Crown Store at all and just turned on the drops" from the two dungeons.

Guess West Weald Legion will drop sometime around October then.

Strange that we have something for sale... but not showcased before...
Maybe they will add other motifs without having showcased them before ?

That one is dropping as of the patch.

It's not in the Crown Store, but it's available from the dungeon or guild traders.
