NOW we get the information that it is extented. Sigh - 2 more hours. That means I will not play much today...

I've come to accept that any time I do get to play on maintenance days is a bonus.

No because they will open the server at EU primetime, and everyone logging in at once with wreck the log in server immediately, so they will have to take down the server again. (Btw this is sarcasm, but this actually used to happen nearly every maintenance :D )

Maintenance is still ongoing on for EU servers. No update yet. We updated the maintenance window in the banner above. We'll check back in a little after 2pm ET/ 6:00pm UTC if maintenance is not over around that time.

It would be interesting to know what is so different about the EU servers compared to NA. I would expect that the procedure of an update is identical. Is the EU population so much higher, that any database changes take several hours longer?

They just confirmed that running to the pet store to bring a new hamster and clean the cage = 2 hours.
    Good to know.

Now I would really like a status - I don't know a lot about this business - could someone tell me, why they can't tell us straight up, what the problem is?

Effective communication would see something of an explanation to your customers as to why our NA counterparts are up & ready, whilst we are further delayed by 2 hours. A little clarification on that in your next follow up post please.

    we pay your salary,
But if we complain too much, we don't let them work
If we take advantage of a bug, we get banned
But if they create a bug, it takes weeks to fix it
Cyrodil is dying for group balls and they don't do anything
the quickest thing they fix is when it affects coins or the shop like what happened with Transmute in the gold event
honestly I'm tired, I've spent 2500M gold on my clan in 6 months and more than 300€ in crowns
I've been playing for 2 years and it's getting worse

Really great communication! Thanks for letting us know AFTER the time it was supposed to be done and apparantly you didn't know it was going to overrun while you need atleast 2 more hours to finish it if that is even the real time it finishes....

Great communication internally and externally as always.

Shame. Yeah I kind of wish there were a more modern and eloquent solution to this, as from a tehnical standpoint this is one of the painful aspects holding the game back. Best we can wish is the game would come online briefly before the day changes so we can at least get the daily rewards.

A honest un-arsey question - why though? I'm genuinely interested to know why the EU server has more maintenance issues than the NA one. Is it simply proximity thing? Legal/ToS - more things need to be worked out? Do EU players break the game more? Do you just dislike us? ;)

I also don't understand why. Both should be technically identical.

What puzzles me is that my personal statistics say that the EU server is more often concerned by maintenance extensions than the NA server. There might be technical reasons for it - I don't know much about such things. What I know is that a company should keep track of such developments and preview appropriate ressources in order to avoid this.

Does anybody know what exactly it is that happens during maintenance? I've never experienced maintenance that was longer than maybe 4 hours in other MMOs and this is so extreme.

    i'd greately appreciate more communication.

i mean atleast its a bit that they will look further into it if it's lasting longer than the additional 2 hours.

7 years ago I left a negative review for this exact reason in steam. Came back to the game after 4 years just see what's up with my friend, and the discrepancy between EU and NA still exists on a large scale. Good to know that nothing changed and nothing is looking to change with regards to this issue XD.

Could ZoS finally stop doing maintrance during the day for EU instead of at night? I'm convinced you're losing interest in the game through these actions.

Working conditions. Compared to the EU, US working regulations are virtually non-existent.

That is not the same thing :)

BTW I've logged in to NA server 15min ago with no issues. Thing is I have no collection items there and only lvl 3 toons and zero interest to play there with an empty account.

Other MMOs, even older ones than ESO, have no downtime at all for maintenances. And I for sure have never seen anything like this in 20 years of online gaming. Been asking myself that question many times too

That could be but my employer has facilities in India and Oz.

That means that sometimes I need to work unsociable hours - which fortunately I get compensated for - in order to support their systems.

As opposed to what some of our fellow players seem to believe 'oh well this is a EU company ¯\_(ツ)_/¯' would not fly for the vast majority of people striving to stay in business.
