You must be new to "maintenance extensions" and company communication of them!!

well the last extension was posted almost 25 minutes after server should have been up again, so it seems they are in general a bit late ^^

There should be quality preparation along with a detailed review, ensure a good DBA is onsite and dev's with the right access onsite, along with the site IT hardware guys - maintenance work won't be a problem. I speak from experience, I never has an issue within my area of responsibility, but I made sure everyone was onsite, it's amazing how prepared they are when it's their time on the line...

You must mean "Some other MMOs," because I recently purchased a few other MMOs on Steam-- but have yet to install or play any of them-- and I get news announcements on Steam, similar to news announcements for ESO, saying when those other games will be down for maintenance or updates. So I know for a fact there are other MMOs that have downtime for maintenance and update patches.

In fact, I just did an internet search for "do mmos have downtime for naintenance" and the topmost result was this one:

Interesting, f.e. WoW have 1h maintenance downtime IIRC
EVE have 15min every day

Got kicked from the game as well as many others -- a lag spike during battleground match kicked most of players, and there were just three people left on the arena.
I got deserter penalty for no fault of my own, got placed in a queue when logging back in.

Very unfortunate, especially after the extended maintenance.
