Pie of Misrule Bonus prereq.

Ephemeraldeception
I have pie of misrule from previous years in my mementos. However consuming it does not grant the 100% xp bonus. There is nothing shown on the char. stats page for active effects after the pie eating animation. Do we have to recomplete all the intro quests again? (I have the event enabled but did not fully complete the initial quest this year). I don't see any bug reports so I guess I must be missing a step...

The XP bonus is now automatic, you don't need to do anything. Don't worry it no longer shows on your stats. It's been like that since the Witches Festival.

Thx for the tip. However, I did some daily craft writs to check earlier and checked XP received, before consuming the pie on this char this year.
I checked how many xp was received. approx 6250 iirc.

Then I consumed the pie. Handed the next writ in. XP was again 6500. Is it normally half that and we don't need to consume the pie at all? Doesn't make sense - none of this is described in the event page.

When is this XP bonus applied then?
    a) To everybody and all chars all the time during the event even if the player never done any Jesters event quest ever?
    b) Everyone all the time, all chars as long as you have have the pie memento from before?
    c) As soon as One char takes the event 1 time after login this year then all chars get the bonus?
    d) something else?

    Yes, it is.

However, unlike previous years, you will no longer need to obtain or use the Pie of Misrule to take advantage of the 100% XP buff. This bonus will now be shared passively to all adventurers participating in Tamriel’s wackiest holiday.

The XP buff went active for everyone when the event started.

All this confusion could be avoided if they would just give an indicator that XP boost is active either in the character sheet or a message when you log on.
      It can still be automatic.

I think I remember reading a staff comment somewhere around here that said such an indicator is being worked on.
Perhaps for U42 (the Chapter release)?
It's just a vague recollection, so I can't actually link a post since I don't remember exactly when and where I read it. (Sorry.)

(or maybe it was mentioned in one of the Reveal streams for the Chapter?)

Very easy way to check is to look at the xp being given for random normal dungeon, it shows the extra.
        When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

Yes, you can check it that way if you know about it, but those numbers are different if you are on a low level character and you don't use finder for dungeons very often and don't know what the base number is.
        Just not intuitive.

That’s the initial remark that the feedback would be passed on, from Witches Festival.

A recent note about the Jester’s festival here, saying an indicator was being worked on:

ZOS has made all the XP buff increase for events automatic with noting for a player to do no more forgetting to activate the buff. Also now the XP buff expires when the event the event does. Prior to this being done it was possible to extend the XP buff by using the XP increase item prior to log off on the last day you were active in the event.

And also possible to extend the wrong buff, like Pelinal’s during XP events.

I would hope this change also helps the servers, since they don’t have to keep track of thousands upon thousands of individual timers based on when a buff was activated. The blanket bonus must feel good for the hamsters.

Just to say thanks for the feedback, and yes I should have read the event details more carefully!

I completed a quest and collected the pie for the first time on my Arcanist and the on-screen description said I was to eat the pie for 2 hours of extra XP.
        Hmmm

I know how it works, but a newbie doesn't, especially if they're given conflicting information. Please change the description for when you first collect the pie

same here on character that did the quest for first time - there was notification about the pie and xp.
probably they forgot to remove xp part from that notification.

tagging just in case @ZOS_Kevin if not reported already.

Yes, for toons that have the tutorial option on and have not done this before, it gives you the old, obsolete instructions.

I agree. This question has been popping up in zone and in the forums every single event since they implemented this change last year. It’s causing frustration among those who are tired of seeing this same question over and over again, and it’s causing frustration among those who can’t understand why XP mementos aren’t functioning the way they used to. It’s tempting to say “c’mon, just do a simple google search,” but ultimately it’s on ZOS for not doing a better job of indicating to players when the buff is applied.
