I walk while tapping the block button and have previously been able to walk the entire circuit grabbing all of the orbs before heading to the middle. Now if I grab all of the orbs then one of the orbs leaves regardless of what I do, so I'm not sure if they changed it or if I'm just crazy. Between losing buffs when transforming into Watchers/Goats, and the finicky nature of the side areas, they just doesn't feel worth doing at the moment.

those orbs can be crazy spazzy sometimes, if im solo i try to do 3 at a time in case one spazzes out

the bug with the buffs on watcher/goat should probably be fixed the next time console gets a patch, they did fix it on PC in the last incremental patch, so if you dont want to mess with gear after the bonus event, then i would agree to just wait it out

How much speed buff do you gain from the Tentacular achievement? Is it like a little 3% buff and barely noticeable? Or do you zip around like the flash once you have it? Should I not buy speed upgrade until I manage to complete Ghostlights? Does the speed buff make it harder to hang onto the lights?

i dont know exactly how much the buff gives, but it is more noticeable in the archive running a tank setup with mostly heavy armor (try walking around inside and outside of the archive in full heavy armor and you can notice a difference)

its not a huge bonus though, but it doesnt make the ghost light activity any different, since you can control your walking pace by holding block

Walking seems to work best for me, especially with both Speed and Celerity CP, but not quite enough to complete the last difficulty — I’ve come frustratingly close several times. I’m hoping the final addition of the Wild Hunt ring will optimize my walk speed to be able to complete this, finally!

Edit: It does! Yay! Walk with Speed, Hasty, and Celerity CP plus a swift Wild Hunt ring does the trick! :relaxed:

Side portals, especially this orb one are very hit or miss. Sometimes the orbs work just fine, and other times you can stand still and one of the orbs will still reset. I wouldn't mind doing the side portals, but it's a complete waste of time when they don't even work properly.

the 4th difficulty solo was the hardest for me for some reason, I barely did it. The last one is so much easier and I always complete it when I get it

yea the time limit is still too short each time.
the orbs are too hard to keep together in the super short time that we get

I honestly feel like something was changed in the past week or so. I had ZERO issues with completing the last difficulty. I slow walked in a circle and gathered all of the orbs before delivering to the center. Now I can only grab 3 orbs at a time and even that seems broken half of the time where an orb just randomly resets. Total rubbish.

I think I have figured this out, at least this is working pretty consistently for me:

    Passive Speed Buffs:
    Steed's Blessing CP (20%)
    Celerity CP (4%)
    Ring of Wild Hunt (45%)
Tentacular Motivation (Unknown amount of speed buff; seems closer to Celerity than Steed's Blessing, but every little bit helps)

    Active Speed Buffs:
Charging Maneuver (Major and Minor Expedition)

Cast Charging Maneuver and run right through center humanoid ghost, turn clockwise at outer rim and run until you grab a ghostlight. Turn on "RP Walk". Keep going clockwise until you have 3 ghostlights following you, casting Charging Maneuver every 8 seconds to keep up Major and Minor Expedition. You don't have to walk into ghostlight. They'll turn green and stick to you as soon as you get within a few feet of them. Take the 3 ghostlights to center. Turn off RP Walk. Run back the way you came and turn clockwise at outer rim and run until you find a ghostlight. Turn on "RP Walk". Keep going clockwise until you have 3 ghostlights following you, casting Charging Maneuver every 8 seconds to keep up Major and Minor Expedition. Take the 3 ghostlights to center. Victory!

These buffs combined with RP Walk seem to keep you moving at a steady pace but not so fast that you lose the ghostlights. I tried block walking but it feels like block walking deactivates some speed buffs and you move slightly too slow. Like Charging Maneuver increased speed of RP Walk a bit (definitely not by 30% + 15% but there was a small increase in RP Walk speed) yet did not increase speed of block walking at all. RP Walk seemed to be the way to go. The speed buffs seem to make you RP Walk faster but are subdued enough to not have you zipping all over.

I believe difficulty level 4/5 was much tighter timing than difficulty 5/5. Like grabbing 3 + 2 ghostlights is not much less work than grabbing 3 + 3 ghostlights but the game seemed to give me noticeably more time for 6 ghostlights compared to 5.

Firstly, unsummon any combat pets, since I've possibly had problems with pets taking the orbs and then losing them as they try to catch up.

Secondly, if you have a controller, try it out; since you have analogue movement, you can half-jog around and even catch all the lights in one go.

I was grabbing all of the lights in one go previously, but now that will not work for me. Once I have 3 orbs, when I grab the 4th, one of them resets. I'm chalking it up to yet another bug in ESO.

I walk all around to bring all six in at once and haven’t had a problem with any resetting. I used to run out of time before swapping on the Wild Hunt ring, but now I don’t often get the final 10 second warning.

    those lights are super spazzy

sometimes ive led 4 of them no problem, other times ill lose 2 even when standing virtually sill lol

i think some of the issue with their tracking is that they keep moving around, and have to stay within 6-7 meters of you in order to stay tethered, if one of them spazzes out and it puts it further than that distance from you, it will go back to its starting area

i usually block walk while im "carrying" the lights, but ill sprint to get to the lights

I managed to finally clear it by moving the same way the ghost lights do. Notice how the ghost lights tend to "sprint" then stop. That's what i do. I walk at full speed for about four steps, stop, repeat.I collect all the ghost lights and turn in at the same time.

edit: i don't stop for long, i pretty much let my joystick return to full vertical position, then i immediately walk again.

I was able to do it on walk, but with the Wild Hunt ring and both Speed and Celerity CP slotted, finished stage five a few times. But then I started having ghostlights suddenly reappear back at their starting place — I’m not sure why — and there’s usually not enough time to find and deliver such. It’s one of the challenges I usually pass on now.

    it's a frustrating activity.
    zigzagging helped me complete it.

like moving forward and backward a bit and forward again, because the wisps move unpredictably

I usually sprint to the first one, then run (not sprint) backwards in bursts to reach the others. You need to unsheath your weapon for this. For me, being able to see the lights makes it easier to stay within their circle of light and avoid losing them.

the lights still sometimes completely spazz out and will dart far enough away from you that you are outside of the tether range

ive had this happen even standing still or block walking

this activity is another one that is really easy to do with 2 players as each player only needs to get like 3-4 instead of all 7 lights

If I collect one, then take 3 steps, stop for a count of 3... collect a second... continue to take 3 steps then stop for a count of 3 to turn them in... then repeat this with 2 more until they are all gathered, I am able to complete it almost every time.
