Scions of Ithelia - Crafting Motif release timing

Could we please not return to the previous system where motifs were only released 3 to 6 months after the content they belong to?
It doesn't give a reason to return to the content. It really only serves as a reason to delay playing the content! Why would you invest any amount of time into grinding one thing if you have to do it all over again for the motif that you should've been able to earn passively in the first place?!

I think it's long past time that this practice stops. yet once again, no new motifs are listed in the PTS patch notes.
I hope I'm not the only one who feels this way.

If motifs aren’t out, I will play the content significantly less until it is out. Stickerbook and quests are a week’s worth of content for me.

I suppose it's a way to stretch out how much the content will be replayed, and keep people spending time in eso. Or to delay part of the development process if pressed for time.

I don't like that model though as replaying content over and over just for the reward (farming), doesn't make it have actual replay value. For me that is when the content itself is intrinsically engaging.

Unless any of the sets that drop in the new dungeons are useful in all likelihood I will RP them on release and then shelf them until the motif starts dropping.

Unless the gear is best in slot, won’t be farming the dungeons until the motifs drop.

Same, I never play content with delayed motifs. Like I did only 5 Arc4 runs in IA for achievements and Fortunes reserve, then since I'm waiting for styles to start dropping....

    1. whether they release it right away or in half a year, doesn't impact the amount of time spend, only when players spend it. you'll only spend more time with it if you insist on grinding anything right away.
    2. they also aren't really delaying any development. since sets from those dungeons usually already are in the crafting style, it's really just a matter of plugging the models into the crafting motif item template and adding it to the loot tables.

I used to bum rush new content the day that it dropped, but the delayed motif release has definitely changed my behavior. I now wait until the motifs are dropping because I'm not interested in grinding content twice.

They will available after U41 launches.

But it's receiving noticable criticism because the Class Styles will be locked the character's Class, reducing the freedom of customization: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/651266/you-will-not-be-able-to-outfit-your-character-in-class-styles-other-than-your-current-class#latest

I hope you can at least earn them all regardless of class

exactly. I usually also try to avoid buying them before everything is available.

You can still consume the style pages to learn them, but you won't be able to apply those styles outside of the intended class, similar to how current appearance items are locked to male/female, Khajiit, Argonian characters.

    1. I don't agree. First of all I dislike it even if that were true, because it means that they're not fully released until that half year later when the motifs start dropping.
Second, if I queue for an rnd and get one of the new dungeons, which will happen fairly often in the beginning since people queue for the specific dungeons to do quests/get skill points and so on, I will be doing the dungeon without the chance of getting a motif page, and will therefore statistically have to do it more times to get everything. That is without considering if the gear is bis and will be farmed for builds.

    2. True. Makes 1. easier to correct then, so Zos it would be nice if the motifs were released with the content :) Same goes for furnishing plan drops from zone dailies.

to be fair. this is not so much about the crafting as it is about content releases in general...
