Collecting runes is painful!

Eats-the-Cheddar
I'm aware that I am, quite possibly, the only one who feels this way. And I'm only half serious, this is not a real complaint. But honestly, the sound of a knife scraping against a stone is so awful to me! That sound effect (and god bless 'em, they nailed it) is just torture! If I'm playing with headphones, it gives me the shivers. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard!

Actually, they seem to have become so rare (maybe because of bot trains), that every time I find one, that sound is a rewarding pleasure to ear :D
I'm sorry if it's unpleasant to you !

Oh, I totally agree, it is rewarding to find one! In that sense, the sound effect is welcome...but damn if it doesn't make me cringe anyway!

It is a regrettable sound effect selection to be sure.

I actually enjoy that sound. Or maybe it is the excitement of finally finding a rune.

Maybe change the sound to that of trying to pry a stone tablet loose with your hands maybe less scraping and more of a shifting sound? (like if you were to open a stone coffin, stones sliding)

If I am going to quote someone, it's going to be me.

LOL. Here I was thinking that this was going to be a thread about how rare rune spawns are. Glad it wasn't and got a good chuckle from it.

    Thanks @Eats-the-Cheddar‌ for that!

Such a realistic sound effect indeed, but yes, I mute the game when rune farming.

Leave 'm in the stone and save them for me!

I actually adore this sound because runes are so rare, especially Potency runes!

But I could see how painful it could become once the fixes in PTS 1.1 and higher enter to Enchanting (much increased frequency of runes and rebalancing towards Potencies therefore making rune farming worth doing). Having that sound every few seconds from now until eternity, would drive even the most chalkboard-scraping lover mad!

All, I can say if anyone ever asks the things ESO did right/realistically, Audio would be well up there (if not top). :)
