How does one counter a Sword and bash player in 1v1 combat as a sorc? Even when taken by surprise?

Title, i am a mad person who came to the forums to whine for this incredibly widespread tactic everyone seems to be using to gain infinite godmode at VR10.

And i mean, 49 points in health, and pure stamina enchantments.

HOW, and also i mean when you are totally not alone and that single guy just comes by and never seems to lose his stamina against a group, (or even a zerg).

And BTW i totally consider that i shouldn't be able to counter a tank as a lone mage.

And BBTW, did i mention everytime i see this kind of tank i bolt escape away with the intention of, you know, escaping?, and somehow the creeper keeps following me with sprint and still has enough stamina to spare?.

Do you mind? I'm busy doing the fishstick, it's a very delicate state of mind.

I'd be glad to hear what the Vet Wizards have to say about this as well ...

Restraining Prison or Daedric Mines since there's no immunity to snare or root, you can easily control them.

No such thing as immunity to snare or root? Oh really? Maybe you haven't seen the heavy armor ability that makes a player 100% immune to all CC and roots for 8+ seconds, or the assault skill that gives several players around you immunity to CC / roots while also boosting your speed for 17-20 seconds?

Many options available to counter most skills in this game, a lot of it has to do with when to tactically use them.

Immovable does not give you immunity to root only hard CC, root is classed as soft CC like snare is. Maneuvers cost 840 stamina to cast, and if you take any offensive action you lose the buff. When I say immunity I mean the ones you get from breakout and the auto from letting CC wear off on its own.

Wow people seriously use that as their base build and you have problems dealing with it?

have you tried not hugging them? it's not like the shield has a very impressive range.

You can't get away from him even with bolt escape? Bolt escape is currently under fire for the reason that it is such an effective escape. What are you doing or what is he doing that bolt is escape is insufficient for an escape? (not to imply that running away is a solution to your problem)

I ran out of magicka and stamina so i couldn't do much else, the guy of course was a pro MLG all exploits player and would get mad at me for not being able to reach me.

Also he used shield charge to disallow me from ranging him

Stay at ranged and normal attacks damage theyr health and stamina, just use normal light/heavy attacks once theyr stamina is down, they have no stamina half health, and every resource of yours is full. Honestly shield is the easiest thing is game to counter, requires no special spell, just requires normal/light attacks, and your own use of skills to stay ranged. No idea why mages keep trying to face hug shield users. the shield user sprinting and blocking both drain stamina like crazy, if he can do all that its an exploit/figured out how to get endless stamina.

You could like...own him using his own broken tactic.

First Bolt Escape to get the range advantage. Buff up, with surge (for harder bash) and maybe HoT and ward. Than switch to one hand and shield. Blink in, Crystals Fragments to knock him down. Before he gets up, you rush in and go bash bash bash bash (looking like a dummy halfwit) with shield, than he's dead.

That's what I do, I switch to 1 hand and shield and bash back. It's funny as hell.

The OP about sword and shield users is bash with deadly bash passive, allowing us to block, interrupt and deal high dmg simultaneously. Thing is, sorcerers can do that to. So there is zero reason to cry about it. It takes an hour to level up shield trait and jam in a couple of skill points.

We also have ranged cc that costs magicka, so we can save all our stamina for bash spam.

    It's getting fixed anyway.

Sparks in the dual-wield tree completely and single-handedly shuts down bash spam.

Maybe sorcs aught to use something other then the exact same caster carbon copy you see everywhere ._.

I pop lightning form, keep block held, drop silence bubble around me (you have to drop block long enough to place). Sometimes I can't get the bubble off in between hits. I relocate with a bolt and try to drop it again. Sometimes they run away when they see bubble, they die fast if they run, if they don't it's just what I have below but with less power and STA than desired for a 1v1.

I'm out of STA very quickly with the block, so have to kill faster than he can run through my HP at this point, and before silence wears off, which is key for me in a difficult 1v1. I use pulsar to drop max HP 13%/vamp check/increase crit another 10%, and lightning strike to widdle/finnish off.. if I'm OOS then it's all weapon damage until around 30% or lower then just lightning strike till hes done. I also like pulsar and dance around him to take advantage of his need for directional melee etc.

I don't bother to heal at all during a 1v1 situation, but I will bolt through him, and then back again at him from other side, once silence bubble wears off to buy more time finish him off if I didn't do it in time for silence to drop. A lot of the time they think you are running but at this point I'm stalling for a potion to come up if it's that close or for the lightning to trigger a killing blow.

If he gets jump on me and I didn't get block up for first hit, I bolt 2ce then run my routine above from step one.

None of this is guaranteed lol as I'm specd for AoE and short term tanking... but this how I handle them. I hope it is helpful info.
