We have a solution right in front of us. Instead of going back to +100% XP on activation next year, the Mug could be drank from daily to receive your event tickets.
This way people who don’t enjoy running around doing the same unchanged dailies we’ve been doing for years, don’t feel forced, just for the tickets.

This is probably why they made the change. Because players were drinking the mug on all their characters right before the event ended so they would continue to have the buff beyond the event. The way it is now, when the event ends so does the buff.

Yeah, but I have to ask the big question... "so what?" It's not like the buff lasts for more than a couple hours. Not seeing where this is actually a problem. I think a more likely reason would simply be that people forget to renew it, or don't notice when it goes away.
It doesn't make sense. So many people questioned how to get the exp boost. There's no indication that you do have one.
Why they changed this I don't know.
I fail to understand how pushing a bind for a quickslot every 2 hours is fun.

What I miss is having motivation to do all of the new life mini-quests every day. They're fun in a silly sort of way, especially when you are doing them with a small group. But there's absolutely no reason for me to do them this cycle. The gold motif isn't particularly good and I have all the other prizes from past new life festivals.
I get that they want new players to have the opportunity to earn old rewards, but they need enough new stuff to keep veteran players engaged as well. This event missed that mark by a long shot.

I have to agree. I hoped that this year they at least would add some new lighting furnishings to the reward boxes (they did add new nice Apocrypha furnishings for the boxes for the witches Festival this year). As it is, I simply collect the tickets to finish this year's new motif (just for collection). I do not need the tickets for anything else this event and definitely do not need anything from the reward boxes either.

I agree and that is what made Breda's mug so Special. It is like Eating Cake during the Jubilee Festival for exp. Which would also ruin the event if taken away. Breda's Mug regardless if someone liked it or not kept you engaged and rewarded you with EXP. Now people can skip the whole purpose of an event and just gain exp the whole time. Disappointed in this decision. I will get over it. I love ESO too much not too LOL..

Well, you might consider it a QoL, but I considering it removing QoL.
i am really happy i don't have to remember to use the tool every two hours.
a lot of days i forgot to use it at all.
it's making the events with a 100% experience boost way more enjoyable.
if you still want to use the mug you can use it whenever you want, it still exists in your collections.

But you no longer get the benefit, at the end of the event, of stocking a 2 hour XP bonus on every character, including newly created, and that bonus remains until you actually play the character. A really nice way to get a character a fast start through low levels.
