if i linked it to a steam account, it would have to be an account without eso already purchased through steam yes? but then i could buy eso plus on steam for it since eso plus isnt available on epic. no offense zos, but with you apparent issues as a victim of fraud, so you say, i'm not sure i trust you with my credit card deets.

90% sure Epic Games accounts can only use the Epic Launcher to play the game. I kept trying to use my Epic Account to log in using the normal client and the 2 factor e-mail never came. I remember this being the issue with the free accounts and why I abandoned that account.

You should be able to get plus directly through the Zenimax store. I have steam but get most of the chapters and ESO + directly through the store.

Not sure if epic is handled differently.

I find it interesting that when people claim the game is dying because the Steam charts show a declining population, they only ever relate to that by reference to the direct ZOS installations. None of them ever refers to the separate growth in the population as a result of the Epic situation. They refer, of course, to the apparent reduction of players seen in the game especially on console, but that is significantly affected by instancing, including the launch of Endless Archive, as well as the alleged demise of the minority interest in ESO that is PvP. That is in no way to criticise PvP, indeed it is the PvPers themselves who lead the claim that PvP in ESO is dead.

Some players will often swear by the evidence of the Steam figures, but do we have any credible information as to the evidence of the Epic figures? There seems to be a complete silence in that respect.

You can, I checked, but the player does not "trust" ZoS with their credit card. If they wanted a work around, there's always Paypal payments.

i will not being giving my credit card info to someone who cant protect themselves from fraud except to employ draconian measures against people who have done no wrong. Zenimax store is not trustworthy in my opinion.

made a new steam account, linked it but since steam has no record of having bought the game i cant launch it and add my epic creds to it. tryed to borrow the files from another account and so it tries to login to that account rather than ask for epics creds.

You create a paypal account and use paypal to pay for your ESO+ subscription, and conflicts or issues are handled through them. Paypal keeps your details and pays out.

I only use paypal for game sub payments. I let them keep my payment info. I don't know if they have some other way of doing that which doesn't require them retaining payment info - but then, I've used paypal for dogs' years and they've never caused me a moment's qualm.

But of course, that's just someone " unknown on the internet". Grain of salt I guess.

so basicly any 3rd party app like paypal or venmo or cash app is what you suggest? those seems like good options. i'm out of sorts. i went out to feed my feral cats and some crazy man smashe my carrier with his foot. kicked it for no reason. i'm just trying to calm down and think while glad i didnt strike him back. neighbors would not call 911 who witnessed it. and when police eventually showed some 45 minutes after the fact, drunk high crazy man was long gone and they refused to talk to the police.

yah but i still have to give out my address to zos. not so sure someone who can only deter fraud on their servers by enacting draconian measures against people who have done them no wrong is trustworthy with my personal info either.

I once had my account linked to both Steam and Stadia, neither required a password login. I assume you can do the same with Steam and Epic, since it would be the same thing.

My issue with Epic is it does not support most other controllers other than xbox. I hate the xbox controller with how sensitive the buttons are and its wide grips in small hands makes it difficult to hold onto for long periods of time. If you add Epic Games launcher as a steam game library, it will launch Epic into Big Picture Mode which then lets you use other controllers. I favor the PS4 controller for the slender grips and uniformity in the joysticks.

i'm using ps4 controller on lutris with epic on linux and i have no issues. i even have my epic eso install folder symlinked to the steam ones so i hav to d/l only once and update only on steam. same with pts.

actually not true i have had issues with dread cellar but thats kinda specific. generally i have no issues. my issues are mostly with cheap quality controllers i think.

I started ESO on Steam back in 2018 I think. At that time, Steam was constantly lagging behind when it came to updates and patches, so I constantly ran into problems. Eventually, I decided to detach my Steam account from ESO and never had any problems since then.
It's possible that Steam somehow managed to work around the issues they used to have back then, I don't know. But at least I wanted to mention it before you are making decisions.
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon

Every company has the same types of issues with fraud/hacks.Some jsut are more transparent about it.Steam has had database hacks, and possible password thefts before, and people still attempt it.So basically if you can't trust one,you probably can't trust any.Best to pay for eso+,then cancel after, and don't save payment info.Like others said, use paypal, but never reverse charges throguh them, always try eso support first or they will perm ban.

Very specifically, during the first half or so of 2018 there were several times when eso had extended outages on steam only, because something in the authentication handoff was prone to breaking. It's why I bought a license for the base game again from zos directly, so I could login at those times. Logging in via Steam has rarely been an issue since.

Anyone still using Windows 7 - which contrary to what some usually claim is fully supported still for security (by 0patch) - needs to bear in mind that Steam will no longer function with Windows 7 from next month.

i have linux. problem solved. i use windows on virtuualbox for ttc client in a shared folder but i dont use it everyday. that runs 10 and Tiny 11.

SO no joke. i used my 3rd party debit card on eso for the + and today amazon refunded my return and my debit provider cant give me the funds? it was rejected multiple times by third party debit card. none of these companies are invulnerable.

You don't need even windows to update ttc data with the client, just use the webclient to upload from browser on their site, and there's a pricetable.zip on same page to download and unpack to ttc addon directory.I'm sure with linux you can jsut make a script to automate it. :)
