I can't express how frustrating it is to see this prompt and to never have the code in my email.

That's not a softlock. It just means you mistyped your password.

For some reason, you get the same message for "your password is wrong" as you do for "this is a new IP address." The only difference is that you don't get an email.

If you ever see that popup and you know you haven't changed PCs, just retry right away.

Thank you, I just noticed I put an @ before my name when I typed it in. It really should have said "account not found" instead of pretending an account existed...

Seems to be a recurring theme with bugs. I hear the block bug is looking to do a come back tour ;-)
