I might be wrong, but as far as I can tell when Necromancer was added, we did not received a free character slot. When Arcanist was added it seems like we all got 1 extra lot for free, as I have one more and I don't remember buying one.0 -

Nope, we definitely got both a free and two purchasable slots with Elswyr.
