Been Away For A While - Now LOTS Of Issues

Hello all!
I've been away for a while (a LONG while, very busy IRL) - for almost a year & a half now :( So I've re-installed the game and added in all my old Add-Ons, as well as some new ones that I found on recommended lists, and .... yeah, LOTS or UI ERRORS, multiple UI clashes, etc. I can't even get the proper setting menu to get the Options, or even EXIT the game via keyboard.

I've gone and disabled most of the NEW/recommended - even disabled the updated version of AUI, which I've always used. I am still getting the following UI ERRORS -

When I START the game, I get the following series:
Failed to create control 'LibCustomMenuSubmenu'. Duplicate name.

No help at all :( Should I cross-post this in the General forum? Or another area? Very hard to isolate what is going on. :(

Will try disabling EVERYTHING, then re-enable 1 by 1 of the MAJOR AddOns I had before.

    Thanks.

Have you updated your addons? If not I suggest that. I get some of those same errors and the inability to quit on PTS when it updates and have to disable the addon through the character select menu.
You can see what addons are causing the error in the error message.

Yes, all AddOns are updated with updated MINION. I'm not using the PTS.

Do you have all the new dependencies for your addons? A lot of Addons and livraries have added new dependencies (like LibSomething), and Minion doesn't notify you. You'd just have to check each addon, and make sure you have the dependencies for each Lib, as well.

As a side note, I'd make sure your game setting for "accessibility mode" is off, and that you have Controller Mode set to Off (a while ago, they added Accessibility Mode which would accidentally become turned on, which automatically turned on controller mode, too). Just good to check.

Hope you can sort it out! Without having to reinstall every addon >_>

You can see some clues from that list what addons are not working properly, I would give my attention to those first.

Sometimes after a long break there can be some dead addons that are harder to spot. Then I usually disable all addons and re-enable them in patches of 10 to see if I find the broken one.

Also you can get this https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1161-AddonSelectorSaveAddOnprofilespacks.html
And make different addon profiles to make things a bit easier.

But yea after a long break it will take some work to get things working again, and sometimes you have to give up on something or try to find a solution from the addon's comments or a find a replacement. Basically to see if an addon is broken the easiest way is to check top 5 comments at esoui.com

based on the error messages i would check these addons to make sure that they are still current with the game (updated in minion may not mean they are current with the game if they are not maintained but not marked as discontinued)
    • ItemSaver (this one has not been updated since 2018, you might need to get the newer one "fco item saver")
    • VvardenfellTreasureChestTracker (esoui shows that this addon was updated today)

@DeathStalker_X Before sending you to place a ticket in with customer service, it is probably worth it to uninstall all of the add-ons and making sure you can login normally. That way, you can make sure it isn't a general game issue vs. add-on related.

Like you, I've recently returned after a long absence, and like you, I reinstalled all my add-ons and got a ton of error messages. What solved the problem for me was installing esoui.com/downloads/info2566-BugCatcherUpdated.html It's an update of the earlier add-on Bug Catcher that suppresses error messages. It solved the problem for me, I hope it works for you too!

the only problem with running something like that is its hard to tell when your addons are actually broken, and some of them can still really mess up your UI if they do break and would need to be turned off

i personally prefer the no thank you addon which can push the UI errors into the notification window so you could still open them up to see what happened and figure out which is the offending addon

It's definately not recommended to suppress the error messages. Those errors are there for a reason. However that is your choice.

As suggested above, please try removing add-ons to see what happens.

We have two help articles linked below that go over how to uninstall or remove add-ons that you're currently using.
