Latest patch shows InstallAnywhere then game Install, instead of the usual launcher for the game

[Note: I've posted the following in "General Discussion" Forum, but after some thoughts I think it should be here]
Very odd... After the very latest update (today about 45 mins ago), when I try to launch the game from STEAM as usual, instead of starting the game launcher (with latest news, deals, update downloads, etc. along the play button), I get something odd and that I've never seen before.
A window titled "InstallAnywhere" shows up stating that it's preparing to install, and after several seconds we can see a gauge showing some installation progress.
When it has finished it disappears, and a new window shows up, slightly bigger with a background image of the Elder Scrolls Online - Morrowind (which is the version that was available when I bought it several years ago). It gives me the choice of language and an "Ok" button.
After clicking "Ok", the later window closes and the process opens a last window with the same contour as the usual launcher, but the only thing it shows, is the option to either install the game, either exit the launcher.
I wanted to post this oddity before doing anything else: what should I do?
