Anyone got any photos and know what it is?
Its the reward for top 2% by end of season in tribute.
Its probably just a treasure you can sell for 100k or something.
Anyone got any photos or know from pts or something?

I had 2500 rank and was in the top 2% but for some reason I logged on today and only make 60 rank points per win and sometimes lose nearly 300 in a single loss.

So *** that I give up... Someone just tell me what it is and show me a photo...

edit

16 games in which I lost rank due to not getting into the game.
0 games have I gained rank from someone who had it happen to them.
200-300 rank points lost per game I dont win.
50-75 rank points per game I do win.

I get it. They dont want me to play the game. Fair enough.

Cya later membership...

Well maybe you folks can answer a quick question for me.

Where do you see your rank other than the page where you join a game?

That only updates for me once each time I log-in.

Some people mean different things when they talk about "ranks".

When you press P or go to group and activity finder you will see a "tale of tribute" section on the left side selections. Once you press that you will see two things people sometimes call "rank".

The first is the bar at the top. Its the "ranks" or "levels" you get to do the main quest and unlock certain things. It goes from 1-8.

The second is the bar at the bottom titled "season progress" and this shows you your competitive season progress. This goes all the way up to "rubedite" and once at "rubedite" you will always be at "rubedite" for that season. Getting to "rubedite" unlocks your ability to be on the "tales of tribute" leader board.

To see that you press "J" or go to the "journal" tab and then press on the "leader board" cup looking image. Then go to the bottom of the list on the left and press on "tales of tribute". This will show all the ranked players between 1 and 100.

So those three things are often all called "rank" because its a pretty confusing system.

In conclusion people consider rank as...
    1) Quest rank level
    2) Season progression level
    3) The rank you have on the leader board

Once everyone realises the leader board is a thing people will slowly start to recognize the leader board as the "ranks".

Right now only about 1500 people have got to "rubedite". Aka only 1500 people are able to get "leader board" points and rank. Im not going to lie. Its been going for like 21 days or something and only 1500 people have made it to the "rubedite" rank?

I personally am in the top 2% again (doubt it will stay that way) and I think the fact only 1500 people out of millions of players have got to a ranking board is a bit meh. Maybe people just dont know how to get to it because the system is confusing. Maybe the devs made it too much of a grind to get to. I personally think A LOT more people should be past "rubedite" and working on the overall score they have on the leader board...

Anyways that probably made it more confusing, sorry.

Judging by the players in my guilds etc., a lot of the players who would be good at it don't seem to engage with it at all. I think the ToT population are overwhelmingly very casual players.

Yea sounds right. Right now I am top 2.0% so I can just x it by 50 to know exactly how many people are past rubedite and in the rankings at all. I am rank 31. So 31x50=1550.

Only 1550 people are in the lead boards and passed rubedite. That is out of apparently millions of users on PCNA.

Lets assume they have 1.5m players on PCNA. I know its just an assumption. 1550/1,500,000 is 0.10%.

Only 0.10% of players have passed rubedite.

That is very very very very very low. Big ooof.

I was at rank 12 or something with 1156 score. My next two matches the opponent conceded which net me 0 points. My third match I lost, and my penalty was a loss of 1000 points.

Something must be broken with the leaderboards. I quit after that.

It could be that there are more. You could be anywhere in the top 2% but without knowing where the top 10% starts you can't know how many there are playing ranked matches right now. Maybe 1500 is the 10% mark.

I understand you 100% and you are not wrong in wanting to just leave after that.

I have now been kicked pre game 18x and experienced 0x wins from people having it happen to them. Apparently its not just a bug and sometimes someone exploiting. They do something before joining which apparently stops the other person joining. Giving them a free win. Apparently they fixed it but I had it happen 4x just last night.

I also only get 50-75 points or something per win and often have up to 300 lost in one single game if I am defeated.

I dont believe I will stay in the top 2% because you never know if someone will beat you and take 300 points off you when you only make 50 points on a win OR if I will just keep losing games I cant join due to a bug or someone exploiting.

400 people got banned for it so far apparently.

No it tells you the smaller numbers as well. If I was top 2.1% it would tell me. The margin of error would be within 0.10%.

So best case its 1550x1.1 which is still only 1705.

Which out of 1.5M+ players is still close to 0.10% lol.

Steamcharts says the average players for the past month has been 16k. If we imagine that 100% of that population was on NA and Steam users are only 1% of the players then we would get a number close to your estimate: 1.6 million.

Those 2 assumptions are obviously incorrect, let's optimistically say half those steam users are NA and that they account for 5% of the players. Now we get 160k players, which I find to be a much more realistic number for PC NA. You can poke a lot of holes in my assumptions but my main point is that the PC NA active population is definitely not even near the region of 1 million.

Now 1.5k-2k players in rubedite is ~1% of the player population, which starts to sound more reasonable. A significant portion of the playerbase definitely do not buy expansions upon release. I'm not sure how to begin to guess this ratio.

For reference, PC NA Gray Host seems to average around ~3k characters per faction for a total of ~10k. Note that these are characters, not accounts.

ToT Rubedite population now starts to look amazingly healthy in comparison. I've mentioned this in another thread, but my anecdotal evidence points to the majority of players being stuck in Ebony. If you win/lose an equal number of games, it will take you very long to escape that tier (if you ever do). If you develop even a little bit of understanding of the game, you will quickly get to Voidsteel which seems to be another tier where lots of people get stuck on. Many of these players might be just as good as Rubedite players, but close competition makes it difficult to accumulate enough rank points to get over the line.

Those steam charts are concurrent players. Not total per month. It's the average online at any current time. Aka right now around 15-20k are online and two days from now still 15-20k while using steam. In that time many have logged off and new people have taken their spot. The total plays who have logged in per month is much much higher even for just steam.

Last they said was 2.5m active players per month in 2017 I think.

ZOS counts those who log in once per month as active, but should you? At least when it comes to this argument. There's no way those players buy expansions on release, so I think it's not worth including them.

Even if you took my estimate and said that PC NA serves ~ 4 main time zones per 24 hours (East Coast, West Coast, OCE, East Asia) and you assume that there's 16k average from each of these time zones, you will get 720k players. Again, not even close to 1.5 million.

I know you're convinced the number is much higher but just pay attention whenever you port to a zone and see how many of those usernames you recognize. It actually happens very often. The real 'active' player population (the ones who would even consider buying the expansion let alone trying out a new game mode/feature) is way smaller than you think.

I don't have an opinion on it and I don't care what the real answer is. They said it was 2.5m active in 2017 and it's probably up from what it appears due to their media releases.

20k concurrent players is very high. Since that's just steam as well. A constant filter with a constant 20k and most probably not on every day.

That could equal a few million or more.

I doubt what they say is accurate but steam charts seem to point in that direction.
  • kevkj
    kevkj

Okay, if you don't care what the real answer is then let's just say there's 10 million players logging in every day on PC NA. Being Rubedite puts you among the truly elite 0.02% of players. The uptake on this feature is terrible and they should just scrap it immediately.

First of all we need to temper our expectations. ToT is behind a 40$ paywall that only a fraction of this 10M playerbase are gonna pay. secondy the rank system, despite having fewer tiers, is not a railroad to rubidite like you make it sound, ift is for those of us that play this kind of game well, but that is only the tip of the iceberg. Take a look at this chart of player numbers for Hearthstone, and keep in mind that this game is free to play.
    54bgayxd0b74.jpg

You see it's not at all odd to expect the leaderboard to be the top 0.5%

and if I divide my rank by the percentage of rubidite and multiply it by 100 II get 2222 players in rubidite currently at the end of the season, which has been increasing steadily by 500 players per week over the season.

And to further extrapolate numbers: if 2222 players are the top 0.5% then 444,444 players of your 10M have completed the 5 ranked placement matches ( though for context the ranks 25-20 in HS are 'placement-like' in that they don't punish loss at all and every 5 ranks is a rank floor keeping lots of players in, but so is rubidite...)

Adjusting the value for maximum optimism, then 2222/10,000,000 means rubidite is .022222% of all players. Which does intuitively feel like an order of magnitude off, but I don't think it's anything to do w/ the rank just w/ the fraction of players owning high Isle

Kinda glad you necrod this because I was looking for the answer to the question of what is the rewards for the season.
ngl a 250 crystals seems cool to me as only have like 250 but 100k is nothing I can make that in 30mins just playing the game.

Nice to know I never need to actually bother playing this game in PvP past this season.
