Starting match with one gold?

My wife first pointed it out in the tutorial, but I've been noticing of late... The player to draw the first patron seems to get one gold to start the match. So far, I haven't been the first draw of a patron to see if I get the 1 gold. But it definitely happens.

Deliberate?

Addendum, I pulled second patron, but played first, and I got one gold to start.

The player who plays second always starts with 1 gold on their first turn. The intent is to have the +1 gold on the first turn balance the fact that the player who goes first gets first pick of the tavern.

You chose your Patron first or played first?

Could be a very rare bug. I’d report it.

I’ve played a ton of games and never got a gold when I go first; only when I go second.

I played first. And I guess it were a fluke.

Every time since, it's whoever plays second.
