So many of the broken aspects of the game never get addressed through major balance or game changes. Too much of what is broken is "working as intended". The wardens I see in PvP are usually associated with group or some ball group, the shalk change works well with bomb group proximity detonation, you can time that 9 seconds easily with proximity 8 to get group burst actually damage outside that doesn't matter much. Ball groups shouldn't exist at all, but this change for warden should outrage everyone because it makes a broken aspect of the game even worse.

I saw warden have so many nerfs from original release that never really made sense compared to what other classes have. I have 18 characters of all classes and some have class abilities so over the top I feel like a cheater playing them. I feel like warden is getting nerfed hard this update while already being bottom tier, while a small number of the over the top abilities for other classes are getting reduced but does nothing to address why they were too good, while persistently broken mechanics go unaddressed.

The developers don't understand or care about game balance.

frost warden is still in a very bad place

with all the buffs to the trial dummy my sorc dps has levelled out at basically the same as live, meaning i've lost 15% or so (major slayer, minor courage, EC)

my frost warden on the other hand is still 10% down on that, so it's more like 25% dps loss. I don't feel like this is a viable build to bring to a trial anymore.

We were so close to greatness … gave us arctic stun , weapon damage on storm and bird, snare removal on wings…. but then everything went to *** when they gutted deep fissure…

Once again a great overview of what's going on. Last week we dared to hope again with Arctic Blast being everything we wanted it to be and I guess the Bill came due on Scorch.

I think this patch is probably the make or break point for Warden for a lot of people and next week will need to be substantial, which I doubt it will be unfortunately.

But let's see what Zos' final attempt will be.

True. Warden still remains my highest DPS class even after the nerfs... Even if I don't like the nerfs. I'll still play it over my other classes which got reduced to atoms, but only because it is just better than my other toons.

That is the exact opposite of my experience playing my Warden alts. My pet sorc sucks at times, but can usually take things down reasonably fast. My wardens seem to take a long time.

If you’ve spent time playing MagDen in pvp, you’ve learned that Deep Fissure is your only competitive damage skill. You simply cannot bring a decent opponent down with spammables or fetcherflies or any of the frost/winter class abilities.

You have also learned that MagDen has the slowest offensive skills of any class. No one uses cliff racer because it is too slow and obvious to hit a good player. You might catch someone who isn’t looking at you with one cliff racer. On a good player that is all you will get. This is why adding damage to cliff racer does not make it a more effective skill in PVP. They needed to make it faster and less predictable. Otherwise, you simply can’t hit anyone with it. No matter the increased damage.

Another conspicuously slow skill that struggles in PVP is bird of prey. The animation at the beginning of the spell literally slows you down for a solid second or two before the speedbuff kicks in. The added snare immunity with U35 is great and a welcome addition. But it would have been better and more effective if they had simply speeded up the skill so that you could get a speed buff when you need it.

In addition to lower damage than other classes, slow, clunky skills are MagDen’s primary obstacle in PVP.

So what did they do to the class with the slowest skills? Push out its only effective damage skill to nine seconds. Nine seconds that must be spent concentrating and actively lining up the delayed burst against a good opponent who is fast, roll dodging, or simply knocking the crap out of you with three molten whips and then spamming whirling blades while you wait nine seconds for your only potent damage skill to go off, and possibly miss.

I guess I am still kind of shocked to learn that the person making these decisions clearly has never played MagDen in PVP. Like, not even once. It’s pretty disappointing. It’s such a beautiful game world, with such potential.
