Punished for outleveling content

First I'd like to say that im loving ESO more than any other MMO I have ever played. The questing system and story is just brilliant. But I've come to a little problem, that is somewhat game-breaking for me, and it's the game mechanics.

So I'm getting used to outleveling content, as I was 5+ levels higher than all the zones in the Ebonheart Pact, and I like it this way, as I love exploring. I've put now already over 170 hours in the game and recently hit level 50 - veteran rank 1.

The problem I'm having is that I've reached level 50 with still 2/3 coldharbour to complete! For some that may not know, anything that is not veteran content is not earning you that veteran experience called "veteran points". I know for most of you it might not be a big deal, but I find it highly frustrating that I may not level at all for the next at least 20+ hours ingame.

I feel like I'm being punished for outleveling content, I mean how is it fair, that all the experience points I'm gonna keep earning till I finish Coldharbour is about to go to waste. Besides it's really frustrating knowing that I'm gonna enter veteran content at the same level as the ones that put so much less effort than me. I'm wondering if anyone else got pissed off by that?

I would actually be quite pleased to have a halt on my xp every now and again. I outlevel content all the time because I'm a completionist. However, I also have the misfortune of wanting a challenging fight, which really isn't possible if you're overleveled.

I played through all of Rivenspire so overleveled that I got no xp from a single mob for the entire zone. I was less bothered by the lack of xp and more by the fact that I was one-shotting things. But I took it all in stride. It's the price I pay for overleveling content by being a completionist and then being too stubborn to just move on when I'm overleveled.

So to answer your question, no I would not be bothered at all if I started on even footing with others in the first VR zone. If anything, I'd welcome it. There are plenty of advantages to exploring every nook and cranny in this game. XP doesn't have to be one of them.

I'm fine with the challenge, but I find little to no challenge in questing. I suppose this will be merely a setback =P

You still get VP for completing quests in Coldharbour. Not a ton, but it's there. Also, Coldharbour is the only area that doesn't seem to be a part of the achievements for finishing all quest lines. It has an achievement for the zone, but that achievement isn't used as a requirement for any of the higher questing achievements.

VP vs XP is odd, I will give you that. I don't feel punished though. Most games don't give you a noticeable amount of XP for going back and completing old zones, and I didn't really expect it here.

I feel I should point out... Coldharbour doesn't take 20+ hours. When I decided I wanted to finish the story I focused on it and in a few hours I was at the end. I went back just today and finished up all of the side quests while getting shards.

Oh you do? From what I've noticed I didn't get a single VP point for completing quests in Coldharbour, I'll check again though when the server comes online!

While I agree with you that most of the games don't give you noticeable amount of XP for going back and completing zones, I can't agree that I was going back to anything :D Coldharbour is still 43-50 zone, so theoretically I would be still getting XP just like in the other games.

Well it depends on the way you play, but it took me more than 30+ hours for each of the 5 faction zones, and I gotta say Coldharbour seems more interesting than all of them, so its gonna keep me busy that long easily! :D

If I remember right from the achievement, Coldharbour only has half the number of quests as your faction zones. I wanna say it was 32 for the achieve vs 60+ for the other zones. The place *is* interesting, and I'd like it a lot more if they hadn't sectioned the whole zone off into chunks. I finished all of the quests and I don't really miss the place.

I've had huge issues with being outlevelled for the area I'm in ever since level 35-ish. Hate not getting loot or xp, but still being "weak enough" for those enemies, since I've put a crapload of skillpoints into four crafting skills. I'm now vet1 and about to storm Molag Bal's place to try to get to get access to a vet zone and I can't even begin to describe how scared I am for that fight. Loving though that as vet1 you can at least get loot from most of the Coldharbour enemies. :D
