Multithreaded rendering crash to desktop

    I am crashing often this patch, where I normally don't crash much if at all. The game crashed straight to desktop with no bug report dialog. I do however get a windows event for the crash:

    I am running:
    Intel 4770k
    AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT
    16gb Ram

    I don't register high cpu temperatures. I seem to crash in waves one after the other but not usually a long break between waves. Anecdotally, I seem to crash when I have been in a zone or area for a long time. This happens whether Multi rendering is on or off. All my drivers are up to date and the client has admin rights and has been repaired.

    I was running the game in windowed(fullscreen) mode but I have changed it to just fullscreen mode. I have not crashed for about 4 hours now so that might be a fix.

    Hopping back in here. This did not fix it. Nothing I have tried has fixed it. Checked absolutely everything on my end and every thing is fine. I have since decided the cause is network related and out of my control. The only thing that 'seems' to help is lowering graphics settings. Oftentimes I can feel a crash is coming because the frames get choppy. Not like lag choppy but like the game is skipping frames. Also, some days or worse than others and at prime time, crashes go way up. Again leading me to think its a connection issue.

    Note: This only started occurring after the waking flame update. Nothing else changed since then other than me crashing up to 5 times an hour.

    I had the game being crashing since last two updates. What helped me:
    Disabled multithreading
    Disabled vertical sync (I have a feeling this particular feature is broken)
    Changed from window to fullscreen

    Also did a client repair, but i dont think it could help

    Yesterday and today something new came up. And only with TESO, not other games...

    I have a CRASH - computer reboots. Same settings as always, no changes, nothing, but my computer restart each 10 to 20 mins of TESO.

    It's not heat, as I play at 55º CPU and 75º GPU...

    It's the weird thing from a game. I have been playing hours of New World with more demanding CPU/GPU usage and temps, and its just ok... runs fine. Why TESO is so unstable?

    I've been playing since beta, never crashed like this it's non stop, there is no help except zos Billie with the same generic bs. I think I'm finally going to leave and go to NW and I don't even like it but it doesn't crash. I've been eso plus for 7 years doesn't seem to matter. Just refer me to the same canned bs. So sad

    Well, my thread about the multithreading issue was closed. Just crashed in a dungeon thanks to multithreading so took the time to type in here and hopefully someone at Zenimax will care enough to look into it. Not only Cyrodiil has been a crashing fest since launch day, but now dungeons and dolmens too.

    I have been using the new multithread feature as well. I have an i9 and 2080 TI. My FPS gains are amazing...but...since ESO is soo CPU intensive this can really heat up my CPU during gameplay, while my GPU is barely working. I have experienced crashes as my CPU is spiking to over 80C in Cyrodil or populated areas.

    Very similar setup, same exact issue, the CPU spikes over 90 °C in crowded areas and the fan makes the PC take off, which is impressive given the huge size of the PC and its weight (very roomy rig for good airflow, fluid cooled, never had overheating issues except for New World and now ESO with MT on), all other titles run at 4k/Ultra at never above 65 °C.

    Same here.
    Crashes to desktop, faulting module ntdll.dll.
    It's worth nothing that it NEVER did this before, so... it must be something faulty with the code, or some unhandled exception.

    I would just like to inform the Developers that I was also crashing to desktop while doing dungeons couple of times each day. This most likely will not be reported to you automatically because it crashes also the error reporting framework.

    Disabling multithreaded rendering fixed it for two days now.

    The crash is direct to desktop, event viewer shows heap corruption or stack buffer overflow in ntdll.dll

    Noticed it before patch when the option was marked as "beta".
    When the option is ON very often (but not every time) the game hangs on the loading character screen (permanent loading screen with music and static eso logo) when you switch between characters.
    When the option is OFF there is no such problems.
    UPDATING:
    When ESO hangs as described you can still try alt-tab and you can see other windows tab-thumbnails, can try switch to them but nothing happens and eso screen changes to random screen from the past (putting screen photo, it was made when trying to alt+tab hanged eso client after character switch that dungeon was allready compleated returned to deshaan, then log out to character screen).
    When eso client hangs you can still open windows menu via shorcut (but cannot run anything or swich between application), you can also log out you windows user using alt+ctrl+del menu (in that case you can login to windows again and start applications without
    rebooting PC)

    Game used to be stable, but i've had crashes during boss fights and more often in PVP during siege/large fights too. the more pressure there is on CPU and the lower the frame rate gets the more likely the game is to completely crumble and die it seems.
