My only surprise was the nerf comes this "early" before the next trial.
Bahsei was clearly overpowered at launch but they still left it a good six months.

Agreed with the outperformance of Bahsei's, yet again perhaps other sets performance should be buffed to match performance, not the continued nerf farm.

People are posting 10-20% higher DPS numbers on PTS than live. I don't think "nerf" is the description I'd use at this point. In fact PTS appears to be a massive DPS boost except to some heavy attack builds.
The new monster helm would be my guess - it's totally overpowered and will need a nerf. So I'd guess the combo of Nazaray and Turning Tide will end up having to be fixed, also the templar spear change.

You can't keep buffing sets because one set is out of line. It just makes all sets out of line and old content becomes faceroll easy and new content gets so out of hand to keep up with the power creep that they have to keep raising the floor to keep players in sync with the content. It becomes a complete mess, when all that was needed was to reign in a set or two. I mean, we literally doubled group DPS over the last 3 years or so. Doubled. That is insane.

This number seems greatly exaggerated. Data from 3 years ago is hard to find, but logs go back 2 years and 9 months to Elsweyr patch. Looking at a parse boss from back then, Yolnahkriin, the top DPS was pulling 85.9k single target. In the current patch this has increased to 112.3k. Admittedly, that 30% increase is large, but most if this can be directly tied to simmering frenzy. In fact the highest Yolna parse on logs without simmering this patch falls below 100k. Simmering is already on the chopping block for next patch, and without abusing broken vampire mechanics we are only seeing a 16% DPS gain over 10 patches.
That also doesn't take into account the fact that players have gotten better at content while practicing it over the years, and strategies have improved. I would bet that if Elsweyr patch had remained live on the servers all this time, players could have at least broken 90k by now. I believe actual power creep is close to 1% increase in group DPS on average with each quarterly patch (exceptions are spikes with Thrassian or Simmering, but these have been fixed). This is a healthy rate IMO, since we do need some sense of progress, and it certainly isn't enough to rapidly invalidate old content, just makes it slightly more accessible to players. It's also helpful for the competitive scene, as new world records are made and broken frequently. It would be stale if everyone knew a score from 2019 was impossible to beat in the current patch.

SHave You looked at other content? People are burning last boss in vMoL on second pad for some time now. So, please don't tell me the powercreep is so small, it is not. And it is an issue mostly because of support sets not only pure and raw damage sets
