Women and their role in ESO? Too many fighters?

I've noticed that every quest you have to bail out some lieutenant or commander who has haphazardly gotten half their squad killed it's always a female.

Not many women would play the game if the only roles female characters could have were cooking and laundry. Why can't there be strong women fighting for their faction and why does that offend you so much in a video game? You can go play COD if you want male only game play. The sexist and rigid rules about gender roles are out dated.

In many countries women are in the military. I knew a girl in college from Pakistan. The give their both young men and women military training or did at the time. There are female Iraqi fighter pilots. It's only been in countries like the United states that prohibit women from fighting on the front lines despite the desire of some to do so.

Yes you are sexist. And possibly specist.

You throw around "man" and "woman" like humans are the standard basis of comparison.

Personally, I'd put money on a Nord female warrior over a male wood elf warrior any day of the week.

What makes you think khajit, for example, have the same muscular and emotional sexual dimorphisms that humans do?

Your example was for Bankorai. One zone isn't all of Tamriel, and one culture is not necessarily representative of an entire world. What do the lore books in Bankorai say about their culture? Even in earth cultures, which you're attempting to relate a fantasy world to, there was not a lot of "stay at home and cook" domestication for females among nomadic desert tribes. For one thing, family units weren't just mom-dad-kids.

This might be a great opportunity for you to explore the differences and compare similarities between earth and tamriel cultures.

I need to try to make this post as "delicate" as I can without pissing people off and sounding sexist.

I think with an MMO, Zenimax has tried to appeal to a larger audience, and because of this, the amount of women NPCs who gives you quests are staggering. And a lot of them are warriors, powerful mages, thieves, etc.

I dont seem to remember this many women as front line fighters in Skyrim, Oblivion, etc. They seem to have had roles which matched the medieval times more accurately. In others words, cooking, at home, etc, while the men spent the time out there as front-line fighters.

I am currently in Bangkorai, and the number of NPCs that have given me quests is like 75% women, 25% men. And each and everytime the woman is an awesome fighter, etc...

So my question is this, did Zenimax make a decision to even things out a bit while disregarding both classic Elder Scrolls and typical medieval canon?

I think that's mainly because tes games were very lore rpg based, wheras eso is largely kill kill kill.

im a former military man myself. My belief is that if the entire military was made up of women we would fail. Sexist whatever.

I have noticed a disparity of male and female quest givers as well I thought about it the other day. It's clear that Zos intended this.

With that said I can't turn invisible or shoot things out of my hands or use a bow. It's fantasy. Let them have their fantasy too.

It's a fantasy game so "because magic" is always a good explanation.

I agree with the original post, as I have been noticing this alot lately. Most captains, soldiers, commanders, leaders, etc. are skinny females. They can easily be mages or rogues, but bad-ass warriors wearing full plate armor is just breaking the immersion. I understand this is fantasy but please try to stick to realistic scenarios in the Elder Scrolls universe.

We're also having this conversation on the forums of a fantasy game, let me repeat that. A FANTASY game. I think the reason why older bethesda games had more men around was due to the era they were produced in. But there is absolutly nothing in in-game lore that states women can't be good warriors or alot of them. Honestly even in older titles bethesda has done a great job of gender not playing a big role in anything. A nord will respect a warrior man or woman, an altmer will respect a Mage man or woman. I myself am a woman and while I think myself a bit more traditionalist in my views for the generation I was born in I also can't counjour flames or daedric pets from my hands nor is weilding a sword since the age of 14 a necessity in our world. I think magic and daedra alone already means everyone has acess to power with enough strength of will.

Didn't mean for this to be this long but yeah, tldr if this were like a medieval reenactment game I'd agree, with you but real life don't have magic.

Why has this sexist thread not been closed years ago? Multiple necros and discussion that's tonally worse than some things that people have been banned for?

Hmm, I think there's a in balance in sex for quest givers. I don't think it's on purpose though.
