@ZOS_GinaBruno I don't think this is the case on XBox. The privacy ramifications of this are pretty serious; I've heard plenty of conversations that I would deem to be private and/or sensitive.
There is also a bigger issue in general with preferences being saved when the game exits/crashes - brightness settings are not saved either.

This is still just a half-baked solution for the problem, because the default behavior of the client is to join the area-, group- or guild voice channels, which the user then has to manually leave. Joining a voice chat should always be only an option for the player and it should never be connected by default. Its_MySniff✭✭✭I'm not saying I like to hear music alot in area chat, at times it can be fun. I usually ask those that say this or that music is garbage to play what they believe to be great music. Yet to hear a tune from them. It's ok tho, I move around too much to be bothered. Cheers1 -

On xbox not only do you get dumped into area chat, but if your in a party chat and join a group everyone in the group can hear you. Now it doesn’t kick you from party chat either so you might not know three strangers can now hear one side of your conversation. Been fun in pugs let me tell you. The things people will say when they think no one can hear them.1
