A rogue and his rice needs to be fixed during the event

Collecting 3 rice sacks that take a long time to respawn and can only be picked up by 1 player at a time is nearly impossible to complete now. You need to increase the spawn rate or don't make them disappear when a player grabs it.

It also seemed to be bugged when I was there an hour or two ago. I got my first two bags when I arrived, but then it seemed like the spawns dried up. I was there long enough for the boss to spawn again and then some, and I saw maybe 3-4 quest markers pop up in all that time (which were of course snapped up immediately by other people who needed them). I camped one of the spots where I'd already gotten one, and it didn't respawn at all. Other people were saying they couldn't get their third bag, so it wasn't just me.

Nevermind the dragons, what's really going to kill Elsweyr is a rice shortage. :D

I found 2 bags, then searched for a while for the 3rd with no success. Then I tried to travel out of zone and back to switch instance, when I got back I actually had a bag in my radar (no visual) but it phased out/disappeared when I got nearer.

A fix would be nice.. I was there with about 30 people.. 4 boss spawns in, and I only had 2 sacks

I got two but when I reached for the third it said someone is using that and it disappeared.

I didn't have any trouble getting mint earlier but maybe I just got lucky.

i remember this problem during the anniversary jubilee event. it was bad then. now the event is exclusively in elsewyr.

also seeing same day 1 dlc bugs like people not being able to pick these things up at all. same issue over at swordsman. people just cant interact with all of the arrowed things they are supposed to. and a delve quest having to do with hircine where altars cant be interacted with

Alternative solution: Group up with as large a group as you can find, then between the lot of you, you only need to find 3 sacks for the group instead of 3 per player.

This issue has been reported before. [snip] This issue serves no purpose other than to annoy players.

Can confirm it's bugged. I was grabbing rice while another player who arrived about the same time as I did was also picking up rice, and when they grabbed their 3rd I was still on my 2nd and all the spawned bags disappeared. I tried /reloadui and re-logged. Ended up abandoning the quest and picking up again. When I returned to the WB I was able to grab 3 bags of rice. No other players appeared to be picking up any rice that time.

There have been 2 other incidences of this happening with other quests:

In N Elseweyr the daily delve quest that sends you to Predator Mesa to collect and smear blood on totems--yesterday I could not collect blood from any "beasts" in the delve to complete the 4th totem. There was another player there doing the quest along side me and I saw them do the last totem and then leave while i was running around waiting for things to respawn and vainly killing them again, unable to collect the blood for the totem. Abandoned quest. It was past the reset by that time so I couldn't go back to pick it up again.

In Western Skyrim, the daily WB quest for the Shademother will also sometimes not allow you to cleanse the 3rd pool you need to complete the quest if there are other players also cleansing the pools. Only fix I finds that works is abandoning quest and trying again.

Given the pattern I suspect there are other dailies that bug out like this and that it's more than merely that specific WB or delve. If I had to guess on my own experience, it's an issue with the game instancing players and not being able to keep straight who's completed all the objectives and who hasn't when there's more than more player in the instance doign the same objectives.

I had the this happen to me at the Shademother WB doing the daily with a group. Couldn't get credit for the 3rd pool while everyone else in my group did and there was no pools for me to cleanse. Had to abandon, pick up the quest again and do it solo. So grouping does not appear to be a reliable fix for the problem

I had this problem with Zalsheem and the urns. What you can do is group with new people for the same quest, share it, and when one of them completes the task you'll get credit for it.

dear god. YES. it took me more time to get the rice then to finish endeavors, farm a few dragons and finish the quest in northern Elsweyr. at this point if/when I get the rice quest again, I'm just going to do the delve instead. I prefer to do world boss quests during the event since its when world bosses get the most people killing them so its easier, but with the rice... Delve would be easier. sigh.

It's terrible quest design for an MMO. Fantastic way to make you hate other players being around you rather than benefiting from their presence.

It's one of the most basic mistakes MMOs can make too. Bizarre to see ZOS doing it with an otherwise great expansion.

even more so that this would be a simple fix by either increasing the spawn rate of the rice sacks or setting it to 'always' so it doesn't get removed when a player grabs it like the arrows for the other WB daily in the same zone....I think they revel in our frustration

I also experienced this. There are 3 rice bags sitting next to each other, and several others sitting around - I pick up one, and ALL of them immediately disappear. It isn't other players picking them up. I then had to wait several minutes for them to respawn. Also - it only happened after I picked up my second bag.

I got that quest this morning, and after seeing a bunch of people in zone talking about it, we all grouped together and one rice sack was enough to feed 12 people.

So form a group if you have the quest and you'll get credit for any rice that your group members find.

Sadly, only workaround I found is to be in large group. Then you get rice in seconds.

I'm used to quest item nodes being player-specific in MMOs in general. Are all quest item nodes in ESO like these bags of rice, but we don't usually notice a problem because it's usually not too crowded in any one place? I have trouble with some of the delve daily quests, and now I'm rethinking why that is, that maybe it's because the quest item nodes simply weren't present most of the time. I remember having trouble when Northern Elsweyr first came out, and now again during the event, both crowded times.

I have noticed this with Iratan the Lightbringer (the aegis boss); there will be several pointers for the arrows or dust and when I pick up one, multiple others disappear. However, there are still enough left over for me to complete the assignment.

There are some of each. You've got quests like the infamous sacks in Cropsford, where the quest item will disappear for everyone after one player picks it up, but there are others (probably more commonly) where the items are specific to each player and there's no competition.

No idea how they decide how any given quest will work, or why they think the competitive approach is preferable.

I've had mixed results. The first one I did was borked. The second one I got was too. Then the third and fourth were fine. The fifth was messed up again. All the ones since then have been good.

Something tells me it's related to the logout/queue bug. Meaning that if I wasn't so close to the threshold (whatever the christ it is), it would have spawned. And the times it did, opposite.

    Who knows what defines that.

I got the first two bags easily. The third is still out somewhere in the cosmos waiting for me to return.

I went back twice after killing the WB and getting first two. Finally last night I deleted the quest. I hate doing that.

The first two bags of rice seem to be instanced to the player and are easy to get. The third one is borked. Took me over half an hour and returning to the location multiple times to finally get the third one. This is obviously a bug. I was surprised they didn't fix it in Monday's patch.
