While it would seem logical that adding weapons would increase diversity, from what I have seen it far from guaranteed to have a real effect on diversity for players interested in performing well. Whatever performs best is what is used with very little difference from one class to another.

I would suggest that if build diversity is truly what is desired, either restrict what weapons are available to each class or rebuild class skill lines so they are more desirable than weapon skill lines so that each class will have a more unique flavor.

The major obstacle to more weapons is simply the giant mountain of art that would need to be generated to produce them. Like, there are how many motif styles... and each motif would require a new art asset....

For that reason, I think that it is unlikely that we will get new visually distinct weapons (e.g. Spears, Crossbow, etc.) but I hold out hope for something new that they could recycle existing art assets on (e.g. Alteration Staff that's meant for Magicka Tanking and support, etc.).

I also hope for improved class skills and/or the much-requested third morph option as well as rounding out the existing skill lines (e.g. missing skills in Soul Magic, Assault/Support, TG/DB, trees).

and I was not speaking to obstacles as I am not familiar with the game enough to see such a big picture as you have pointed out. You do make a good point.

I am surprised that Zenimax does not revamp skills, or even better add some new skills to the class trees with expansions. I have seen it in other games and have seen some good skills added. Granted, sometimes they remove a skill when adding one.
