There is no reason to grind to 3600 CP. You can do everything in this game with a few hundred CP at most. That said, i think they should drop a 0 from the CP levels and make each level cost 10X more but provide 10X the benefit. 360CP max is a lot less daunting than 3600. Especially considering the much steeper XP increases between levels in other games.
Go do Godslayer or Gryphon Heart with cp200.
So no, you can not do EVERYTHING in this game at low cp. Even vet dlc dungeons have a cp cap for a reason.
We will still need max level in cp 2.0 if we want to reach the full potential.
QuebraRegra wrote: »leveling in some MMOs, and other RPGs has been used by devs to replace actual content of value. Must keep the players grinding, so they will continue paying.
Paying. You meant that last word to be paying? Yes. Yes indeed.
MMOs are one of the genres identified by researchers as causing the most problems with video game addiction. This is more than likely by design, not by accident. If you addict customers to a game, you keep them playing. If you keep them playing, you keep them paying.
This title hasn't exactly shied away from that but has been somewhat more customer-friendly by avoiding massive XP/progression grinds. That balance may be changing, which carries with it additional risks for people prone to gaming addiction or currently struggling with it. If this goes through, most of y'all will be fine but be careful; try not to let this trap you and if it does, seek support from those you trust.

NefasQ made a character on EU and managed to get Gryphon Heart at CP300. Because he knows how to play. Which is way more important than CP. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/528668/cp-308-tank-gryphon-heart-hm-speed-run-no-death

PVP is about the skill of the player. That applies to any game. IE: It doesn't matter if you have the pointiest sword if the other guy knows how to use the sword better than you. I've been in PVP fights in many games in which i beat people who are better equipped than me( including this one) and in ones in which i should have won but didn't.

If two players with similar skill levels, the one with 5 times more CP is obviously at high advantage. I'm not talking about 10-15% difference, but 5 to 6 times difference. That's significant.

1. I use to PVP in MUDs... on dial up. Also you can technically consider games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter to be PVP since they are player vs player which would put my PVP roots somewhere around the early 90s. Ive played a large number of PVP games that would be considered an MMO by today's standards including a lot of browser based games. Shadowbane, WoW, Rift, are a few and i have been subbed to Eve since 2006 with very few breaks( its where i get my space pew pew fix).... IF you want to compare pvp experience.
2. Your degree is irrelevant to the topic.
3. 5x the CP =/= 5x the power. That isn't how that works at all. You don't gain a lot of power from CP under the new system so 5x the CP should not be breaking you in those fights. They have an advantage but it is a slight advantage. A players skills can easily make up for the advantage difference.
4. The "of similar skill" doesn't apply to PVP because two players don't ever fight on fair terms. One will always have the advantage...ALWAYS unless they plan it that way. So only if all things were equal would the CP matter that much and that never happens...ever. One player will always have the opening move in a pvp fight and that player can control the whole fight if its the right move.
5. Obtaining 2500 CP probably isn't even going to be doable from what i am seeing. I think they are going to be using the soft cap system they used in CP1.0 and if that is going to be the case i am going to guess CP above 1000-1200 isn't going to matter a whole lot right now.

I know no other mmo from the last 10 years, where you have to grind so long to reach max level.
Level: L50 and 3600 CP I don't know, but I guess aroung 2 years if you don't play several hours each day
Mounts: 180 days
Crafting: getting all traits probably more than a year

Are you denying the fact that in ESO pvp healing 10% and mitigating 10% more damage isn't important?
People who are playing since launch don't want to start grinding again. You know, there are people who are competitive and those people are also the ones that keep this game alive.

Hardcore pvpers buy the latest chap/dlc day one to grind for 24h the new op item to get back asap in cyrodiil

Yes you get a lot of xp from dailies, but you think I'm having fun speedrunning through the same dungeon for the 1829th time, after grinding 12 characters to undaunted 9?

You guys are wrong don't you get it? You aren't supposed to grind or do any of that. This game is about juggling potions in Riften and questing. You are supposed to get your exp from your daily dungeon and questing. Heh nobody is forcing you to get to max level, this isn't a job and those groups that want to be competitive are toxic and no good. Personally I can't wait for cp 2.0, the big bad power creep needed to be taken down a notch. Also you don't need max cp to fight in pvp. Don't you know that those stars that give more offense and defensive stats don't mean anything? You end game players are so entitled.
/s
This change won't bring new players to this game as the cap is absurd with low levels and high levels.
When the new players hear about max lvl of 3600, no way they want to continue to play when they know it will take year(s) to achieve that. This is a very risky move by ZOS.

Ok, so everything is fine, since no one is forcing you to collect sets, run vet/trials, research all traits, pvp, spend 180 days to max mount, to actually play the game.
This is such a lame argument you can excuse everyting with it.
If a player has a advantage with higher cp he has to grind if he wants to be competitive.
Its up to the designer of the game how much grind is needed to stay competitive.
We could clear PvE content before CP was introduced, we can PvP without CP active. That isn't changing.
