"I want to highlight that in 2021 we will devote more time overall to stability and game performance and less time to new game systems" "We now have planned for the team working remotely for roughly the first half of 2021, so the "introduce fewer new systems" program will continue throughout 2021."

What's the FIRST thing they do? Introduce a new system that will turn the game upside down on its head again. Nice, zos. What a great way to reassure the community you're sorry for the terrible performance in the previous patches and ready to turn over a new leaf.

He said "fewer" new systems, not "no". Also the planned hardware upgrades combined with the cp revamp affecting less server checks will go a bit towards improving things. Relax kid.

    Is anyone honestly surprised?

Champion system almost completely changed, armor passives changed and new penalties added, racial passives changed, new status effects, sets changed once again even though they did a huge rework on almost every set just a few patches ago, and the list goes on.. So much for “less time to new game systems” :(

Well anyone could see this coming if you think about it.

Going Racial -> Skills -> Passives -> Major/minor -> CP total revamp is a bit backwards.

Essentially they now have to go back and redo Racials -> Skills -> Passives -> Major/minors yet again to meet with new systems.

The CP rework has been in the works for years. Aside from that, its tweaking and rebalancing a bunch of game mechanics as usual.

The only really "new" thing being introduced that I can think of is the two Companions. And that's a far cry from the sort of "new game systems" we got in past Chapters like Jewelry Crafting, Psijic Order, Antiquities, and new classes.

We've been waiting a good long while for the CP revamp. It was just now they decided to finally implement it.

We've known that they've been working on the CP system for a long time though. The addition of companions though... that's a curve ball for sure.

They devoted the time to this new system for the past two years, not this year. He didn't say they would not roll out changes they have been working on for years.

Had you listened to the stream last night you would have heard them mention that the CP overhaul will also BENEFIT performance. And some of us been waiting a long time for a CP overhaul.

With all due respect - I can understand why the Devs don't pay attention to this forum - PTS still isn't up and already there is a page full of complaints and dramatic posts before anyone has even tested the changes.

Games change - that's the nature of them, and some of us like 'change', we enjoy the challenge of new things and figuring out how to make the changes work for us.

If you want ZOS to take your feedback seriously, go through the testing process and provide them with real feedback.

my only complaint about the CP changes is that i feel they should have given us a heads up. This should have been pushed out in the June update. but i have only been playing ESO for 6 years so my opinion doesn't matter all that much.

You mean the cp system that was planed for rework since murkmire?

Also is if it is ready why hold on it for no reason

Nothing in life, be it Real or MMO is ever cast in stone, things change, circumstances change and you have to go with the flow.
You have to adapt to the situation you are in at any given moment it time, not to do so is unwise and some would say foolish.

An entire overhaul and reworking of the cp system, changes to armor passives, racial passives, status effects.. etc is not limited new systems and focusing on game/server performance. It's not. Its them radically changing the game every 3 months, yet again. Sorry, not sorry.

They have been talking/hinting about the CP Overhaul for a while now, like it wasn't a secret. They even told us in a different ESO Live not that long ago that the CP Overhaul will come in 2021 and we'd know more about it then.

This. People need to chill before they can even test it. And this system will help performance, new servers, more stability. These people...

Its not the fact they've been talking about cp changes since murkmire. It's the fact, self admittedly, that they have dropped the ball on the last several previous patches, be it bugs, crashes, whatever, instability issues. They say this is due to the pandemic and working at home, thus why they said less game system changes more focus on performance.

However seems to me, theres more game changes coming in this patch, than the patch we are on currently. Which is the opposite of what they promised.

You think I don't want cp changes? I do. But given their track record while working from home.. I have little faith in them pulling it off.

Hell, they never really pulled it off even when they weren't working from home, lol. Remember the ENTIRE YEAR of performance updates? And the game was worse off than before? Buy ya I'm wrong, these new cp system/armor changes/racial changes/ is really gonna pump up performance. yall are right. *pass me the kool-aide please"

Sorry but you're just wrong. It's not even mislead, you are just outright wrong.

Overhauling how calculations are handled and what benefits what is EXTREMELY important in how your game performance can be handled. For example a 5 piece set that increases you Magicka by 3500 is fundamentally different in calculation process than a 5 piece set that increases all healing you do by X% of your missing Magicka.

One adds 0 new calculations; it's a flat magicka increase. The other is an ENTIRELY new calculation that would otherwise not be required.

There are hundreds of these interactions required and none of us on the outside knows the exact scale of how many are ran in a single parse. If you don't want to take the developers words that the overhaul will help lessen the calculation count then fine but don't pretend this isn't a required step in this sort of process.

I totally relate with your exasperation. It's pretty simple to understand what they're doing. I, for one, am approaching optimism with trepidation and yet I'm actually trying to think if they've been balancing this along side everything else they've been overhauling as of late. This might actually get me re-invested in the game again, but we'll see.
