Quitting the game brings up a 'ESO has stopped working' window
The behavior is still considered a crash even though it happens when quitting from the menu. ESO is not closing normally before something terminates the closing sequence. One of the common causes is an issue with an add-on you have loaded not working correctly.
Thanks for the update. The next step to try at this point is fully uninstalling and reinstalling ESO on your PC. Since the crashing only happens when you quit the game, you may want to hold off doing this until you have free time to do so.
Ok I seemed to have fixed the problem, by updating all my add-ons, it seems to have been a conflict between something and something else? So it was working fine, and then I had to go and make the mistake of installing a new add-on, Essential Housing Tools. And the problem has started all over again. So frustratingly, I have to uninstall and reinstall the whole game. Because of 1 add-on urrgh

Aaand I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it still crashes on logging out to switch characters so that 1 mod has done something to my computer?

Could you try simply removing all add-ons completely and then seeing if the crash happens on quitting? This way we can test to make sure the issue was truly add-on related or not. Steps for completely removing add-ons can be found here.
I've removed all add-ons completely including all the saved variables and addon settings document and it still crashes. And it adds the addon settings doc back every time. But this wasn't happening before I installed EHT, so I'm sure that add-on has added some data to some folder somewhere and that is causing conflict because I no longer have the rest of the add-on?

Thank you for testing with Minion removed. To investigate this further I recommend that you open a ticket with customer support. Make sure to include a game consultant file so there is a rundown of your current PC.
Are u by chance using a new wireless razer mouse/headset. Since I got me a new wireless headset yesterday eso keeps crashing without any bug message when hitting "logout". I saw another thread realting to this problem. It may be caused by
RzChromaSDK64.dll unloaded error.
RzChromaSDK64.dll was my problem, even after 5 months of uninstalling my Razer mouse and returning it for taking over my PC. When attempted to delete the SDK64.dll, I received a "can not delete, ESO is using this file", I screamed for joy as I found my culprit!!! TY Wuselman,
